Make sure your parents don't mistake this for an iPad at Christmas. You know how the only non-iPod MP3 players that people buy are those $10 pieces of junk in dime stores, or by the checkout in cheap supermarkets. I have a feeling that the tablet market is going the same way.
With all the major players struggling to match the iPad's aggressively low price, it may be left to junk like the $100 Arnova 7, a seven-inch tablet packed with all the latest tech — if we were living in 2005.

The tablet runs Android 2.2 Froyo, has a whopping 4GB storage, a mystery-meat processor, and an 800×480 pixel screen.

Viewdle Third Eye brings AR gaming to Android devices

Viewdle, a mobile-focused visual analysis company, has launched its first game based on its face recognition technology and augmented reality, called Third Eye. The game allows real-people to become part of a steampunk-style MMORPG about vampires and slayers. The game will be part of a trilogy, with the first part being focused on recruitment and establishing alliances. What's special about the game is that players don't get to choose sides - the game chooses sides for them with the aid of the phone's camera.

Sony Ericsson outs Xperia ray, Xperia active, and txt [video]

During the CommunicAsia trade show in Singapore on Wednesday, Sony Ericsson officially took the wraps off of three new devices: the Xperia ray, the Xperia active, and the “txt.” The Android 2.3-powered Xperia ray sports a 9.4mm thin profile, a 3.3-inch “Reality” display with an 854 x 480 resolution, an 8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera, and a 1,500 mAh battery. The Xperia active also runs Gingerbread and offers a smaller 3-inch 480 x 320 Reality display and a 5-megapixel camera capable of recording HD video. It's also dust proof and water resistant.

Alien Dalvik will let you run Android apps on the Nokia N9

In case you were worried about application support for the N9, you have one less reason to worry now. Along with applications created specifically for the phone, you will even be able to run Android applications on it. Thanks to a little something called the Alien Dalvik, a software that lets you run unmodified Android application on non-Android devices. All the developers have to do is repackage the .apk files and the applications can be used on other devices running Alien Dalvik.
