While iOS 5 may bring about MANY welcome changes to the Apple handheld experience, it looks like Apple may have just rained a monsoon on the jailbreaking community's parade. With the new iteration of iOS, Apple have axed the ability to save SHSH blobs, which is what allows users to downgrade to previous iOS firmware through iTunes.  Heck, even the iPad 2 doesn't have an untethered jailbreak at this moment. What this means is that if you are looking to downgrading your OS, you'll be limited to pre iOS5 firmware. This is not just a problem for potential jailbreakers.

Swiffy makes Flash content iOS-friendly

It looks like Google is pretty intent on killing off Flash. The company has just released a new tool that lets users easily convert Flash files into HTML5-compliant code that can be pretty much viewed on any device including iOS devices. To use Swiffy, all users have to do is upload the Flash files in SWF format to the Swiffy website. The file is then processed by the website which then generates a JSON file. A client-side JavaScript runtime loads the JSON file and renders it using HTML, SVG and CSS.

At the moment it can only convert simple Flash files, so don't expect to be porting over complex games to HTML5.

Raytrix Offers World's First Plenoptic Camera Series

Germany-based Raytrix introduces what they claim is the first plenoptic camera series in the market, stealing the thunder from other companies interested in developing their own, including Adobe and even Lytro. A plenoptic camera, also known as light-field camera, uses a microlens array to capture 4D light field information about the photograph's subject. This data can be used to improve the solution of computer graphics-related problems.
The cameras range from the entry-level Raytrix R5 that shoots photos at one megapixel, to the high-end R11 (pictured) that captures images at three megapixels.
