Samsung fails to prevent US tablet sales ban

At the end of last month, Samsung was faced with an injunction from the court that resulted in the possibility of Samsung's Galaxy Nexus receiving a sales ban in the US – one of their major global markets. Not too long after that, Samsung naturally went on the defensive and decided to contest that injunction in the court, only to have their efforts shot down. Not only that, a US judge did reject another request by Samsung to prevent a ban on its Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales in the US, which is the third legal blow against the South Korean conglomerate in a space of one week.

Mozilla's HTML5-based Firefox OS coming in early 2013

. Mozilla on Monday revealed that its Boot to Gecko mobile platform has been rebranded as Firefox OS. The HTML5-based OS will power smartphones built to open Web standards. “The introduction of the open mobile OS continues the Mozilla mission to promote openness, innovation and opportunity on the Web for users and developers. As billions of users are expected to come online for the first time in the coming years, it is important to deliver a compelling smartphone experience that anyone can use,” said Gary Kovacs, CEO, Mozilla.

Huawei Ascend P1 XL to be released this month

Officially announced less than two weeks ago, the Huawei Ascend P1 XL is already in production, and should be released before the end of this month (July). Expected to cost about 3,000 CNY ($470), the Ascend P1 XL is basically an Ascend P1 with a larger (2,600 mAh) battery. It runs Android 4.0 ICS (probably upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean), and features a 4.3 inch qHD display, 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP HDR rear camera, and a 1.3MP front-facing camera.

Production R8 e-tron sets lap record at Nürburgring, Audi gains more EV bragging rights

Suffice it to say, Audi's been garnering loads of press these past weeks for its e-tron vehicles. Hot on the heels of its recent, R18 e-tron-led victory at the 24-hour Le Mans, the automaker has set a world-record for production EVs at Germany's Nürburgring. Using an all-electric R8 production model, driver Markus Winkelhock zipped around the 12.92-mile course with a lap time of 8:09.099. For comparison's sake, the fastest lap by a gasoline-powered production car of about seven minutes and 57 seconds is currently held by the Gumpert Apollo Sport — which just-so-happens to use a 700hp (515 kW) Audi V8 motor.

Somewhere in the region of $380 million thereabouts, where this particular acquisition will see SCE use it as a platform to establish a new cloud service so that they are able to deliver truly innovative and immersive interactive entertainment experiences for their customers.

A New Zealand man, for reasons only clear to himself, decides to attempt a Starsky & Hutch drift around a corner in a ute that can only kindly be described as vintage. With that opening, you're no doubt expecting the obligatory "of course it all goes wrong and he crashes.". And that, indeed, is what happens.
What he does next, though, is something straight out of a ridiculous Grand Theft Auto videogame scenario, and the payoff is terrific.
