SleepWell System Puts Mobile Devices To Sleep To Conserve Power While Waiting On WiFi

With the explosion of smartphones and tablets in the market, followed by the increase in number of WiFi hotspots, sometimes it can be hard to get a decent connection for your downloads. Perhaps surfing the web at Starbucks is still passable, but try download a big file and you may be stuck there for an hour or so due to the sheer number of people hogging the connection. While the hogging is inevitable, the fact of the matter is that the longer you have your smartphone or tablet on to download a file, the more battery it will drain, which is why Duke University graduate student Justin Manweiler came up with the SleepWell system.
