Cloudee beta gets Boxee into the video sharing and cloud storage game

Media center software, a streaming set top box and a TV-tuning USB dongle - Boxee already has a pretty decent amount on its plate. But don't think the company is done just yet. This isn't about products, this about an ecosystem, and the next step in building that out is Cloudee. At its heart Cloudee is a cloud-based video hosting and sharing service, not terribly dissimilar from YouTube at first glance. But, the vision here is more focused and more narrow than simply having a public space to post your viral clips and home movies.

Toshiba's ApriPetit portable robotic interface solves household problems, melts your heart

Remember ApriPoco. It's okay, we'll forgive you if not, but we can't say the same about a similar question asked about that fellow above here in a few years. With a heart and soul as warm as that found in Wall-E, Toshiba's newly-unveiled ApriPetit is around half as large as the aforesaid predecessor, standing just 5.9-inches tall and sporting a pair of eyes capable of staring straight through your being. It's described as a "portable robotic interface," able to understand and act on voice commands using a combination of speech recognition and text-to-speech software.

Sony Xperia Ion spotted in red. ST21i Tapioca to be called Xperia Tipo, should have a dual SIM version

Available only in Taiwan for now, and coming soon to Hong Kong, the Sony Xperia Ion has a third color version, alongside the black and white ones that were officially unveiled at CES 2012 back in January. The new version is a red one (pictured below), and it has appeared over at Sony Mobile's official website. Unfortunately for those who want to see it on AT&T, this red Ion is the HSPA edition that's going to be released in Europe, not the LTE-enabled American one. Of course, until AT&T finally decides to start selling the handset, it may consider having the red flavor, too.

The new card also happens to be called the Radeon HD 7750, and it'll sit alongside its doppelganger on the shelves of the world's computer stores just daring you spot the difference. How will you do that.

NTT DoCoMo launches free Concier mail translation app for Android devices

Not content to simply dabble in double-sided transparent touchscreens, Japanese mobile provider NTT DoCoMo continues its efforts to break the language barrier - this time with a new Android app. "Mail Honyaku Concier" (honyaku means "translation" in Nihongo, while that last word is a play on "concierge") is a free app that lets users translate text into different languages. The software is compatible with smartphones and tablets sporting Android 2.2 or higher and accepts both keyboard and voice input for text.
