Viewsonic to release a 22-inch Android Tablet – Is that too big?

Viewsonic to release a 22-inch Android Tablet â€

. Bigger is always better, right. Well, such is not always the case; at least not for everyone. But Viewsonic is sure that there is a good market for a 22-inch tablet (or table?), and is planning to announce one at Taipei's Computex. Viewsonic calls it a “smart business tablet monitor,” which pretty much explains what the company is aiming for with this product.

Users have displayed both love and hate towards the first larger tablets. The best example would be Toshiba's Excite 13, which has a 13-inch display. Some thought it was a great idea, and would be great for media and entertainment.

Google Wallet: one year later

The rumors and leaks go back a bit further, but it was a year ago today that Google officially revealed its Google Wallet mobile payment service - a platform that the company is still betting big on, even if it may be slightly reconsidering the way it does business. While it might not have taken off quite as quickly as Google would have liked, the past year has still been a fairly eventful one for the service - albeit occasionally for reasons the company would prefer you forget - and the next year proves to be even more challenging as the service faces increased competition.

Samsung releases Official Top 40 Chart App music streamer

Samsung releases Official Top 40 Chart App music streamer

Here's a weird new thing on offer from Samsung, a music app that gives users “unlimited plays” of the records that make up the UK's top 40 music chart. The app is free to download, but there's a £1 a week charge for access to the tunes once the initial trial period expires. However, the app isn't showing as available for installation on ANY of the Android devices we've used thus far, Samsung-made or otherwise, so we're guessing this one must be an exclusive for someone, somewhere.
See if the Official Top 40 Chart App works on your Android thing by having a look at the Play Store listing.

RIM patent application puts pressure on sensitive touchscreens for a possible unlock alternative

RIM patent application puts pressure on sensitive touchscreens for a possible unlock alternative

RIM's been busy on the patent application front lately, filing off concepts for anything from smartphone docks to rotating keypads — even flirting with potential forays into forensics peripherals. Perhaps sensing the crushing need to differentiate its ailing BlackBerry brand, Waterloo's taken to the USPTO with a doc submitted last November that could do just that. The pressure-sensitive input scheme and touchscreen interface described therein would respond to a user-set pattern of force by granting access to a handheld device's features and applications.

Chris Harris explains what makes his own 1986 BMW M5 so special

The 70s were a definitive decade for music and movies. Fashion and cars, not so much. The 80s corrected one of those oversights, an era of ethereal supercars like the Porsche 959, game-changing exotics like the Ferrari Testarossa, and, best of all, everday cannons that offered mortals a generous portion of lairy thrills, such as Chris Harris' 1986 e28 BMW M5. In 1986, a 3,100-pound, 286-horsepower luxury sedan straight from the factory that could also handle was as rare as a goose with lips.

Renault fetes Red Bull Racing with special edition Twingo

Used to be if Renault wanted to celebrate a Formula One team with special edition, it would celebrate its own. But having sold the bulk of its own team to Lotus and Genii Capital in favor of supplying engines to a greater variety of independent teams, its latest commemorative hot hatches honor the (current) king of them all: Red Bull Racing. Just a couple of months ago, Renaultsport rolled out the special RBR edition Clio, and is now following up with a similar treatment applied to the smaller Twingo (with a special edition Megane to follow).

PayPal lines up 15 retailers for mobile payments, will let you buy Jamba Juice smoothies with a smartphone

Although PayPal's mobile payment system started out small with a Home Depot deal, that snowball is quickly rolling itself into a boulder. Starting next month, 15 extra US retailers will be happy to see you slap down your smartphone (not literally, we hope) instead of a credit card. The selection leads us to think a lot of smartphone owners like to shop for wearables - Aéropostale, Foot Locker and JC Penney are in the batch, along with others - but there's a few useful exceptions, like Barnes & Noble, Jamba Juice and TigerDirect.
