Mini may have overexpanded, some models may not be replaced

Mini may have overexpanded, some models may not be replaced

Surprise, surprise. According to Edmunds, Mini may be looking to reduce the number of vehicles in its range, which has recently expanded to include a total of seven offerings (not to mention the copious varieties of configurations found within each line). When Mini relaunched in the early 2000s, it did so with one model, the Cooper Hardtop, and has since added the Convertible, Clubman, Countryman, Coupe, Roadster and Paceman. It looks like those ambitions of expanding the range to include up to 10 models may have been a bit optimistic.

Chevy moves to trademark Chevelle nameplate, but why?

Chevy moves to trademark Chevelle nameplate, but why?

According to a report from GM Authority, General Motors has applied for a trademark on the "Chevelle" nameplate, filing the request under the "exterior badges for vehicles" category of the "goods and services" section of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. And while you certainly could argue that this is simply to protect the Chevelle nomenclature that represents a large part of Chevrolet history, GM Authority has a couple of good reasons why you might want to think otherwise. First of all, GMA points out that companies don't necessary file trademarks for the sake of keeping up on records.

Blackberry Q10 Goes Up For Pre-Order In The UK

We had previously reported that the Blackberry Q10 was supposedly being tested by over 40 carriers in 20 countries, and while a US release date has yet to be confirmed apart from its vague time frame, those in the UK can now pre-order the device. The phone will be available via Carphone Warehouse and will cost £579.95 unlocked, and will also be available on UK carriers Vodafone, O2, Orange, T-Mobile, EE and TalkMobile. If the unlocked price is a bit too expensive for your tastes, the Q10 will be free although you will need to sign a 2-year contract and be expected to pay £36 a month.

Tapete Made Out Of Discarded Computer Parts

Tapete Made Out Of Discarded Computer Parts

So, you think that you have got one of the best looking carpets in the neighborhood. Perhaps it is time to rethink the traditional, and bring with it a new twist, especially when it has technology written all over it. Forget about the clichéd fabric carpets, or even exotic Persian carpets, you might want to help keep the earth free from toxic waste by using recycled and unwanted electronic components to form a carpet. This is exactly what designer Federico Uribe dreamed up of, where he used old electronics components to form the Tapete.

Sony Xperia ZL Holds Guinness World Record

Sony Xperia ZL Holds Guinness World Record

There can only be one, according to the law of the immortals in The Highlander, and I suppose the same holds true when it comes to world record holders. Very rarely do you see two or more persons or objects hold the same world record simultaneously, but I don't think that anyone is going to outdo Sony Mobile's Sony Xperia ZL anytime soon. Basically, the Sony Xperia ZL managed to pick up the Guinness World Record for "the largest animated mobile phone mosaic.".

Julie's Gadget Diary - Qi inductive wireless charging, more trouble than it's worth?

Julie's Gadget Diary - Qi inductive wireless charging, more trouble than it's worth?

My first experience with inductive charging was way back in 2004 when I reviewed one of Microsoft's SPOT watches. The watches themselves were kind of clunky, but I thought it was so cool that they could be charged just by being placing on a cradle. The fact that no  cables had to be plugged directly into the watch was like magic and I was sure that it would be no time until all my favorite gadgets had the same feature. In 2009, the Palm Pre smartphone had an optional inductive charger called the Touchstone.

Ventura Farms Inaugural Concours Invitational doesn't disappoint

Countless vintage automobile events are held all around the world on any given day, but few are able to match the caliber of exclusive machinery displayed at the Ventura Farms Inaugural Concours Invitational. The event, held last month on the private 2,200-acre ranch estate of billionaire David H. Murdock (the Chairman and CEO of Dole and Castle and Cooke) just north of Los Angeles, CA, offered guests a look at dozens of classic automobiles set among beautifully manicured gardens, ponds and Thai sculptural boulders mined from the River Kwai in Thailand.

The bedroom should be one of the cleanest rooms in any home, considering how private it is, and you would definitely prefer to sink your face into a fluffy and nice smelling pillow, don't you. Well, for those of us who have this apparent allergy to dust, you might want to consider getting anti-dust mite pillow and mattress protectors, in addition to a decent performing vacuum cleaner for your bed. LG of South Korea might just have the vacuum that you are looking for with the Bedding King, which sports a powerful vibrating punch that knocks backs and forth 8,000 times per minute in an effort to remove invisible dust.

Google Play Affected By One Click Billing Fraud

You can pooh-pooh Apple all you like when it comes to their hardware and software, but certainly, there is no denying the benefits of a closed ecosystem that is employed by iOS, which cannot be found in Google's Android operating system. Well, being open means less restrictions, but it also could turn into more opportunities for someone with malicious intention to exploit, too. In fact, it is reported that Google Play has been affected by one click billing fraud, with over 200 Android apps been designed to trick folks into parting with their hard earned money, with some cases going up to $1,000 for adult content, Symantec warned.

Hyundai Unveils E4U Concept Personal Vehicle

Hyundai Unveils E4U Concept Personal Vehicle

The New York Auto Show is currently going on in New York City until this Sunday, but Hyundai decided to show off its newest in personal mobility vehicles at the Seoul Motor Show last week. Hyundai's E4U is a concept vehicle which was designed by the company's Advanced Design Department and can actually be driven in any direction. The E4U doesn't use tires like a traditional vehicle would. Instead, it uses a rotating semispherical  part that spins horizontally. The semisphere is in a titled position to help generate drive, while two stabilizing wheels located at the rear of the vehicle keep it moving straight.

iPhone 5 Promotional Material Reaching T-Mobile Stores

iPhone 5 Promotional Material Reaching T-Mobile Stores

Not so long ago T-Mobile announced at its Uncarrier event that it will begin offering the iPhone 5 to customers, starting April 12. There's no uncertainty surrounding the date and the launch won't be hampered by availability issues the likes of what HTC One is having to face right now. So it hardly comes as a surprise to see that iPhone 5 promotional material has already been delivered to many T-Mobile retail stores. These are wall posters with the April 12 iPhone 5 launch date on them.

Rumored Apple Gaming Controller Denied

Rumored Apple Gaming Controller Denied

We've seen several different game controllers released in the past that allow gamers to play games on their mobile devices with an actual controller, rather than using the on-screen keys. It's a lot more convenient and feels much better, and for some reason there have been rumors circulating that Apple could be interested in releasing a game controller of their own. While it does carry interesting connotations and possibilities, it does not seem very Apple-like, and the bad (or good, depending on how you look at it) news is that according to Jim Dalrymple of The Loop, that is not happening.

Saudi Arabia: Skype And WhatsApp Fail To Comply With Regulations

Most of the world is aware that Saudi Arabia is not exactly the most liberal of countries, mainly because there is no separation between religion and the state. Having said that, there are some rules in that particular country that would have folks living in far more liberal thinking countries wonder how did folks manage to put up with all of those restrictions for so long. Well, the latest bit of information to roll out from Saudi Arabia's Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission is this – select Internet applications such as Skype as well as WhatsApp have failed to comply with regulatory requirements.

Built Smartphone Envelope is a smart go-to-lunch wallet

We've reviewed a few of Built's protective neoprene cases on The Gadgeteer.  I've tried several of their products, and their Neoprene Tote Bag for 13" Apple MacBook Pro is still my favorite laptop bag.  This is the first time I've seen their phone wallets, and they look very interesting.  They have the Smartphone Envelope for bigger phones; it's sized 5.8″ long X 3.7" high X 1.1" thick.  The Phone Envelope measures 5.5″ long X 3.4″ high X 0.6″ thick.  Both can hold “Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, and WebOS cell phones” – and I would image they can hold iPhones, too.
