Microsoft reports that the next-generation Surface “touch-based table computer” is now available for pre-order through Samsung resellers in 23 countries worldwide. Medion has rolled out a pair of new gaming laptops in the UK. Just a few days ago, Samsung has confirmed that Verizon's Galaxy Nexus (or Nexus Prime) would be released in the US in December - despite the fact that many had expected this to happen before the end of November. And while there's still no word on the exact day when the new smartphone will be launched, a recently leaked Verizon ad has caused further confusion around the Web, as it shows the Galaxy Nexus being priced at $199.99 on contract.

Australian judge feels injunction against Samsung was not fair

Good news Australians, if you were hoping to get your hands on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia, there's a slight chance that you will be able to do so. It seems that even though Apple may have won an injunction against Samsung in Australia, an Australia appeals judge is now questioning the fairness of Apple's Samsung tablet ban in the country. "The result looks terribly fair to Apple and not terribly fair to Samsung," Federal Court Justice Lindsay Foster said today at a hearing in Sydney on Samsung's appeal for the ban to be overturned.

. While Verizon Wireless has yet to announce any release details surrounding the latest Nexus smartphone, a series of leaks seemingly paint a complete picture of the carrier's launch plans. A purported internal document revealed on Wednesday points to a December 8th release for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and now a leaked Verizon Wireless advertisement lists the handset's on-contract price as $199.99. The Galaxy Nexus had previously been rumored to launch with a price tag closer to $300, so it is unclear if the pricing in the Verizon ad is standard or part of a holiday promotion.

One week ago Orange finally confirmed the existence of the San Francisco II Android smartphone, following a few weeks of leaks surrounding this device. AT&T withdraws FCC application for T-Mobile merger

. AT&T said Thursday that it has withdrawn its application from the Federal Communications Commission to acquire T-Mobile USA. AT&T and Deutsche Telekom said they will instead focus on fighting an antitrust lawsuit brought against the proposed $39 billion merger by the Department of Justice. AT&T made the announcement Thursday following the FCC's decision earlier this week to hold an administrative hearing regarding the purchase. Tablet owners in the U.S. expected to total 89.5 million in 2014, Apple to own 68% of market

. By the end of 2014, there will be 89.5 million tablet owners in the United States according to a new forecast, meaning one in three web-connected Americans will own a tablet. Of those 89.5 million people, 68% will own iPads. Market research firm eMarketer recently published its tablet forecast for the next three years and it determined that tablet growth will slow over the coming years, as will iPad sales. The firm estimates that there will be 33.7 million tablet owners in the U.S. by the end of 2011. That number will grow 62.8% to 54.8 million in 2012, and another 37.9% to 75.6 million by the end of 2013.

Nokia Siemens to cut 17,000 jobs as part of global restructuring

. No word yet on which countries will receive the brunt of the blow, though the company says it will launch local re-training and re-employment programs in affected areas. The mass layoff is only the latest in a recent spate of Nokia-related cuts, and according to Nokia Siemens CEO Rajeev Suri, it's lamentably necessary. "As we look towards the prospect of an independent future, we need to take action now to improve our profitability and cash generation," the exec said.

Amazon may move 12 million Kindle Fire tablets in 2012

. We like the Kindle Fire's odds, and we revealed as much in our review of Amazon's new tablet published on Tuesday. Analysts have been betting on the Fire as well, with shipment estimates reaching as high as 5 million units for the fourth quarter alone. As detailed in a recent note to investors, Citigroup analyst Mark Mahaney sees Amazon's success in the tablet market spilling into the new year, with sales of Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets reaching 12 million units for the full year in 2012.

If you're looking forward to get your hands on Motorola's new tablet, the DROID Xyboard, you won't have to wait too long. According to a purportedly leaked Verizon document, we'll be seeing the new Motorola tablet go on sale beginning December 8th. While the document doesn't mention the name “Xyboard”, it does label the tablet “Motorola Tablet” and not “XOOM”. LG's launching something on December 1, probably the AT&T-bound Nitro HD

Up until now we've heard the name LG Nitro HD twice. First we found out that it will be AT&T's version of the LG Optimus LTE. Then, the Nitro HD even got spotted in the wild. All of that naturally signaled an imminent launch (or at least unveiling), and that may just be the case after all.

Verizon officially launches the Samsung Illusion SCH-i110

Verizon has finally announced the Samsung Illusion (model number SCH-i110) - that new mid-end smartphone that we've been seeing quite a lot lately in leaked photos. As hinted yesterday, the Illusion will be available for purchase online starting tomorrow (November 23). The handset's official price is $79.99 on contract, however, between November 24 and November 28, Verizon will offer it for free (new 2-yr agreement required).

Rugged Samsung Galaxy Xcover S5690 arriving in the UK in December

Officially announced back in August as Samsung's first rugged Android smartphone, the Galaxy Xcover will be released in the UK sometime next month. According to Handtec, which calls the handset the "Galaxy Extreme", and lets customers pre-order it, the new Xcover costs £224.39 (about €260 or $351) unlocked. The smartphone is IP67 certified, thus it's dirt and dust protected, and can be submerged in water up to 1m.

Just like Motorola's Defy+ (another new rugged smartphone - already available in the UK), the Samsung Galaxy Xcover runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

BlackBerry Curve 9380 pre-orders start in the UK from £319.99 (SIM-free), shipping on November 28

The recently announced BlackBerry Curve 9380 is headed to the UK. So far we've heard that O2 was going to carry it, and now it's already up for pre-order at some retailers in SIM-free and unlocked form. Play.com offers the Curve 9380 for £319.99. Unfortunately the shop doesn't list an exact shipping date, instead saying that the smartphone is “usually dispatched within 4-5 days”.

Now if you don't mind shelling out a bit more cash, MobileFun also lists the new BlackBerry Curve 9380. The price being asked here is £329.95, but it comes with an actual release date: November 28.

Google's Street View hits the slopes again, stops for hot cocoa in Squaw Valley and Whistler (video)

Were you worried that Google's Street View snowmobile was put out to pasture after 2010's Winter Olympics. Relax you worrywart, as Mountain View's resurrected the snow-trottin' beast, only to unleash it upon the slopes of an additional four alpine locales. Joining existing (and updated) imagery from Vancouver's Whistler resort, 2011's additions stayed stateside, testing out the snow in Squaw Valley, Breckenridge, Deer Valley and Crystal Mountain. Yet, while the additional footage is welcome, we can't help but notice it's of vastly lower quality than that taken from last year.

While black is the popular color for the US carriers’ versions of the Samsung Galaxy S II, T-Mobile and Samsung want to shake things up a bit and add to the snowy landscapes of the winter months with a white Samsung Galaxy S II. They won’t have more information regarding availability, but it should definitely be here before January 1st. Take a look at the image above and look out for it soon.
They didn’t state whether or not this would be identical to their existing Snapdragon-enabled version but we wouldn’t count on anything but that.

Samsung Google TV to launch next year

While Sony and Logitech are done with Google TV, it looks like Google is picking up new partners to continue its TV-platform. LG was previously rumored to be in, and now there are reports of Samsung wanting a piece of the action as well. Samsung's president of digital media business, Yoon Book-keun had mentioned to reporters that Google and Samsung are currently in the final stages of their talks. No word on whether a product will be showcased at CES 2012, but in any case it should be arriving some time in 2012.

ExoPC's Multitouch EXOdesk: Way Cheaper than What Samsung Offers

ExoPC has teased us with a video featuring its multitouch surface called the EXOdesk, which is set to be publicly demonstrated at CES in January 2012. Apple has just announced some changes to its board of directors, including the appointment of a new non-executive chairman: Arthur D. Levinson. Currently Chairman of Genentech Inc., Levinson has been a co-director of Apple's board since 2005, having first joined the board in 2000. He'll be welcoming new board member Robert A. Iger, who you may know as the President and CEO of The Walt Disney Company.

Possible Nokia Lumia 601 Windows Phone image leaked

. Nokia has already confirmed that it is making a whole slew of Windows Phone devices, but is the Lumia 601 pictured above one of them? Pocketnow recently published a photo of the device, but was quick to point out it might not be as legit as originally thought. The camera module, for example, looks nearly identical to the one found on the Nokia C7. There are also a few artifacts around the upper edges of the image, which could suggest a poor Photoshop attempt. In any case, the “Lumia 601″ naming implies it could be an entry-level handset.

Rumor: Amazon Still Making Bigger Kindle Fire Tablets, Orders 8.9 and 10.1 inch Displays

When Amazon was first rumored to be making an Android tablet, it was revealed that they would be working on various-sized tablets for different markets. Alongside the 7 inch Kindle Fire that has already been released, a 10.1 inch version was  rumored to be in the works. It looks like those plans may still be in order. DigiTimes often gets information from component producers regarding what kind of parts each OEM is ordering. The most common information they get regards displays and they usually serve as good indication of what’s to come.

Well, it looks like Amazon’s still ordering up 8.9 inch and 10.1 inch displays.
