Samsung could announce sCloud service on May 3

According to Korean tech site MK, Samsung might be prepping up its very own cloud service. It's going to be called, and we are not joking, S-Cloud. In its core, it's going to be similar to Apple's iCloud, but will offer much more, according to the report. For starters, there won't be any limitations on the things you could upload, which means it will work like Dropbox and the upcoming Google Drive. It'll even come with access to movies, popular TV shows and music.

If you've been waiting for someone to combine R/C cars and Ken Block's brand of gymkhana, you'll want to pay a visit to Hot Wheels. MetroPCS has launched a new affordable Android smartphone: the LG Optimus M+, first seen at the end of last month. . Apple's next-generation iPhone will reportedly make use of new display technology that will allow the device to utilize thinner components without sacrificing responsiveness. Citing anonymous sources within Apple's component supply chain, DigiTimes on Friday reported that Apple's new iPhone will utilize in-cell touch panels rather than industry-standard on-cell technology. In-cell touch panel technology allows a device's touch sensors to reside inside a display's color filters rather than above them, and the result is a thinner, lighter panel.

Rumor: iPhone 5 Will Feature “Metallic Glass”

Another round of iPhone 5 rumors surfaced. If talkative Korean sources are to believe, the next iPhone will be cased in “liquidmetal” and that it will arrive in October at the earliest. Earlier reports claim the upcoming iPhone will debut this summer, so why the delay you ask. Apparently Qualcomm, the manufacturer of some of the smartphone's necessary chips, cannot churn out production fast enough.

Meanwhile, the “liquidmetal” casing can be described more accurately as a glassy metal.

Microsoft posts Q3 beat: Operating income grows to $6.37 billion on $17.41 billion in sales

. Following the huge loss reported by major mobile partner Nokia, Microsoft posted its fiscal third-quarter results on Thursday following the close of the market. Wall Street was expecting the software giant's earnings to slide 7% year-over-year to $0.57 per share on sales of $17.18 billion, up 5% from the same quarter in 2011. Microsoft reported earnings of $0.60 per share, beating estimates, and revenue came in at $17.41 billion. Operating income totaled $6.37 billion, up 12% year-over-year.

OScan a Smartphone Based Screening Device for Oral Cancer

Researchers from Stanford have come up with the means of detecting oral cancer with a nifty little invention called OScan. The device which is attached to a smartphone enables earlier diagnosis of the presence of lesions which are early symptoms of oral cancer. Due to the lack of dentists or nurses in certain areas routine check-ups can be difficult and with this in mind, Manu Prakash who is an assistant professor of bioengineering at Stanford engineered the device which works hand in hand with a smartphone to create detailed images of the oral cavity after which it is screened for lesions that might be suspicious.

Production of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 has apparently been stopped. The culprit is the Korean company's decision to upgrade the tablet's processor, from a dual-core part to a quad-core unit. This is exactly the same thing we've heard is happening to Samsung's other recently-unveiled 10-inch Android tablet, the Galaxy Note 10.1. Samsung has a quad-core Exynos processor in the works, which is also widely expected to be in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III.

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, as originally announced, was a pretty strange device, since it didn't bring many internal upgrades compared to its predecessor.

A few benchmark numbers were discovered by the Blog of Mobile (via Engadget) which shows that Motorola might be looking to step away from Texas Instrument chipsets that have been used in the past to possible Qualcomm chips. According to the details which were seen (as posted above) along with the benchmark results, the device in question which is running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has a 1.5GHz MSM8960 chip. I did wonder as to why we could not include some sort of energy collecting action going on in the windows on our buildings – and perhaps those questions have finally been answered. German startup Heliatek have come up with a new kind of organic solar panel which were developed using a vacuum deposition process which will place tiny, organic molecules on flexible films. These panels from Heliatek will be far more efficient compared to polymer-based ones, and are tipped to have a lifespan that is similar to that of a conventional silicon solar cell.

An insider from Samsung Korea revealed that Samsung will temporarily halt all production of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (check out our hands-on with this tablet at MWC 2012 in Barcelona, Spain), also known as the GT-P 5100, in order for some changes to be made to the assembly line so that a quad-core CPU can be installed inside instead. Among folks over at Samsung, the revamped tablet will carry the code name "Espresso", something that we talked about earlier this month as well. At least we do know it is not going to be another branch of the Galaxy Tab market, but rather, offer superior performance compared to what is already out there.

F1 race in New Jersey could be postponed

After years of doing without a grand prix in the United States altogether, Formula One is gearing up to return to these shores in a big way. The United States Grand Prix is set to take place later this year at the newly constructed Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. And next year, the Grand Prix of America is scheduled to join the calendar in New Jersey, just across the river from Manhattan. But will the Jersey race be ready in time.
According to the latest reports, that second grand prix in the U.S. could be pushed off until 2014.

Judging from the spy photos we've seen recently, the BMW i8 is coming along nicely. With its more realistic bodywork, the hybrid supercar is beginning to look like something that actually belongs on public streets. Now Sonny Lim, former head of BMW DesignWorks, has taken a stab at what the finished product may look like via a handful of renderings. With it's shorter wheelbase and clipped length compared to the concept, the production vehicle is rumored to tip the scales at around 3,187 pounds, or just under the concept's original weight goal.

Bing Translator for Windows Phone Updated with Offline Functions

Looks like there is one reason why we should buy a Windows Phone. Microsoft has updated the Bing Translator app, which can be downloaded for free in the Marketplace. The update now enables users to point their cameras at any text you cannot read (say, the Japanese road signs) and a proper translation pops out in front of the foreign text, as you can see in the first photo. Another trick this app offers is how users speak phrases into their Windows Phone, which will then be translated into a foreign language of choice complete with audio.
