Another Leak Reveals Possible Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus Launch Date

Another Leak Reveals Possible Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus Launch Date

Earlier today we received the official Samsung Galaxy Nexus announcement from Verizon the device’s availability this holiday season. While that sent some Verizon customers’ rejoicing, others were quick to point out the fact that Verizon didn’t give us a launch or pre-order date for the device (negative Nancy’s). It’s been strongly rumored for some time that the device could see a November 10th launch date but that was quite a while ago and as it so often goes in the wireless industry — dates are very subject to change.

HP's chief strategy officer to retire next month, won't have a successor

Remember Shane Robison, the HP exec who advocated for the survival of webOS following the company's decision to dismantle its hardware unit. Yeah well, he's about to make an exit. HP confirmed yesterday that Robison will retire from his position as executive VP and chief strategy and technology officer on November 1st, after spending eleven years at the company. In a statement, HP praised Robison for spearheading much of its R&D and several high-profile mergers during his tenure there. "In his role, he was responsible for shaping HP's corporate strategy and technology agenda," the company said.

Samsung announces the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus for the US, coming on November 13 for $399.99

Samsung has just announced the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus all over again, this time for the US market. This tablet was first unveiled by the Korean company last month. But back then there were absolutely no details about its availability and pricing in the US. That changes today, with the press release basically serving just that one purpose. So, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will be available in the US starting on November 13 for $399.99. Pre-orders will officially start on October 23, which is this Sunday.

Pilot FriXion Ball Eraseable Gel Ink Pen Review

Pilot FriXion Ball Eraseable Gel Ink Pen Review

I like to write with ball point pens 99.9% of the time. The only problem is that when mistakes happen, you either have to use white out or scribble through the word and try again. Yuck. I've tried erasable ink pens in the past, but was never very happy with the results. Besides that, I hate eraser crumbs. That's why I was really anxious to try the Pilot FriXion Ball Erasable Gel Ink Pen when JetPens sent me a sample.

Leica-Like: The Leather-Clad Fujifilm X100 Special Edition

'Call that a camera. This is a camera.' The special edition, leather-clad Fujifilm X100 is the camera Crocodile Dundee would carry. You know how the Fujifilm X100 looks suspiciously similar to a certain brand of rangefinder cameras. Well, it just got even more blatant about copying the Leica look, and this 200-strong special edition is almost Samsung-esque in its copyist ambitions. It is also very, very hot.

The camera is a stock X100, complete with the hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder everybody is so excited about.

2012 BMW ActiveE

. For over a year, I've been looking for a way to get into an electric vehicle, but my options have been decidedly limited. I'm either lacking the funds (Tesla Roadster) or the alternatives have lacked character (Mitsubishi i, Focus Electric). But now there's this: The 2012 BMW ActiveE. It's the next step for BMW in electrification – a bridge between the Mini E and the forthcoming i3 – that takes a standard 1 Series Coupe and adds a brace of batteries and electric motor to create a rear-wheel-drive sports coupe with a 100-mile range.

OCZ Announces 1TB Notebook SSDs

OCZ Announces 1TB Notebook SSDs

OCZ's Octane SSDs offer up to 1TB of screaming-fast storage. SSDs: Crazy fast, low-powered, indestructible and… Tiny. Swapping your slow, spinning hard drive for a speedy solid state model is a great idea, unless you actually want to store something on your computer. Enter the new Octane range from OCZ, which comes in sizes of up to one terabyte.

Currently OCZ's 2.5-inch SSDs max out at 480GB, so 1TB is quite a leap. The Octane will come in two flavors. A SATA 2.0 version will transfer data at up to 275MB/s (read), and the SATA 3.0 model reaches 560MB/s.

The launch will be in November, but prices have yet to be disclosed.

Ice Cream Sandwich already unofficially ported, Nexus S 4G gets first dibs

Ice Cream Sandwich already unofficially ported, Nexus S 4G gets first dibs

Well, that was fast. Just two days (barely) after the Android 4.0 SDK was released, a resourceful dev claims to already have the code up and running on a handset that isn't the Galaxy Nexus. Android Central forum user Breezy is working on delivering a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich to the Nexus S 4G. It's already pretty clear that particular handset will be getting the upgrade at some point, but we know how impatient you can be. Breezy hasn't released his ROM just yet, because there's still some bugs to work out - like the non-functioning WiFi, Bluetooth, cellular data and the wonky touchscreen.

Gmail to get new interface?

Gmail to get new interface?

Google might be the 800 lbs gorilla at the moment compared to the scrawny monkey that it started out as originally, but that does not mean being of this size offers it the luxury of just resting on its laurels – nice to know that the spirit of innovation continues even until now. Case in point, Alex Chitu caught a YouTube video (which has since been taken down, of course, but not before he managed to capture some screenshots) of a new Gmail interface that is said to resemble that of the recent Google Docs refresh, albeit throwing in some rather sizeable avatar photos of your contacts to your inbox display.

Feats Per Minute is a bicycle that plays records

Now this is definitely an interesting amalgamation of items – a bicycle as well as a record player, all crammed into a single device. Known as Feats Per Minute, this “invention” of sorts will see the incorporation of a turntable onto the rear wheel of a bicycle. Basically, you spin the record player whenever you take a ride, where whatever sound that comes out will go through the route of the horn located at the back.

Nokia Sabre Windows Mango Phone Leaks In The Wild!

Nokia Sabre Windows Mango Phone Leaks In The Wild!

Little had we known about the Nokia Sabre and Nokia Ace until this moment. According to a report by our friends at PocketNow, the following is possibly the first of Nokia Sabre pictures that we've seen. As reported, Nokia Sabre features a 4.3″ WVGA display with the usual WP7 OS buttons, a single-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and 1GB of RAM which is pretty decent considering that it is from the first batch of Nokia WP7 phones.
It has also been reported that the Nokia Sabre price falls in the $410-$480 bracket for a retail unit per pop.

OCZ Octane announces “world's first” 1TB SSD

One of the reasons why the MacBook Air is popular, apart from its slim profile and looks, would be the SSD that it uses that allows for a speedy boot, read and write time. Unfortunately while we'd all love to sport SSDs in our computers, their limited capacities and price have always been a limiting factor, at least until now where OCZ Technology has launched the Octane SATA 3.0 and SATA 2.0 SSD series, which are being touted as the first world's first SSD to achieve a 1TB capacity. These SSDs will be based off Indilinx Everest and are also boasted as having record-breaking access times.

Nokia Ace, Sabre & SeaRay (Nokia 800) To Debut At Nokia World 2011!

Nokia Ace, Sabre & SeaRay (Nokia 800) To Debut At Nokia World 2011!

Both Nokia and Microsoft are expected to announce about 3 Nokia Windows Mango phones. These include the already-teased Nokia 800 (aka Nokia Sea Ray), the Nokia Sabre and the Nokia Ace. The Nokia Sea Ray is something we have already seen a couple of times. Nokia Ace and Nokia Sabre are said to relatively bigger devices with 4.3 inch displays against the Nokia SeaRay which sports a 3.9 inch display.

Not much is known about the feature sets of each of these devices. Although, it is pretty obvious that the devices draw inspiration from the Nokia N9′s one-piece-slab form factor.

AT&T Android Sales Double Up on Last Year's Numbers

AT&T Android Sales Double Up on Last Year's Numbers

Most will focus on the astonishing iPhone figures reported in today's Q3 earnings report from AT&T, but that isn't the only part of the carrier's smartphone business that is doing well. Though the iPhone still makes up for the majority share of smartphone sales — to the tune of 2.7 million, — Android devices and other “non-iPhone” handsets now account for nearly half of the 4.8 smartphones AT&T sold in the third quarter. Android device sales are up twofold since the same period in 2010. The growth is notable considering AT&T's slow start with Android.

Nokia beats Q3 projections

Nokia beats Q3 projections

It's a bit what analysts consider to be failures and success, and in the case of yesterday's report on Apple's Q4 earnings, it seemed that some analysts were disappointed as Apple's earnings did not meet their expectations, despite Apple breaking several of their own records in terms of iPhone 4S' sold. In the case of Nokia's Q3 earnings which was recently revealed, it seemed that while not exactly turning a profit, Nokia managed to surpass the expectations that many had for the Finnish company.

Batarang controllers from Power A missing a cape

Talk about wanting to get into the groove of your Batman: Arkham City experience right smack in the middle of the living room. Power A has just the right kind of peripheral for you to check out – where it will come in the form of a new Batarang controller that targets owners of the Sony PS3 as well as the Xbox 360. Themed controllers aren't exactly new, but that does not mean newer releases cannot look nice just like the ones here. Coming in an obvious batarang design to live up to its purpose, there will be visual cues such as LED lights (that some might take it to be corny) which allows it do light up in seven interchangeable colors.

Nokia 800 press shots emerge, three colors coming your way

Nokia 800 press shots emerge, three colors coming your way

Quite frankly, we almost lost count of the number of times we've seen leaked images and videos of it in the past four months. It all began back in June, when Mr. Elop himself accidentally (or not) showed it in front of a select crowd, and on, and on it went. Today, we continue the rumor cycle with leaked press shots of the Windows Phone running, Nokia 800.
As you can see above, the upcoming Windows Mango handset, which we came to know as Sea Ray, is an almost identical twin to the great looking Nokia N9.

Brand New Motorola RAZR Ad Spots [Videos]

Brand New Motorola RAZR Ad Spots [Videos]

After getting caught up in the hype of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus a few videos snuck their way onto Motorola’s YouTube channel showcasing none other than, you guessed it — the all new RAZR. If you notice, there is a complete absence of the typical robot killing badassery found in previous DROID adverts but this is more of a Motorola commercial and less of a Verizon one. Still, I think they do a great job at showcasing the device’s features (something those Droid commercials could learn a thing or two from). Let me know what you guys think.

Lytro camera hands-on (video)

Lytro camera hands-on (video)

You knew Lytro was up to something, but with its infinite focus light-field powered camera out of the bag, how does it actually stack up in real life. In a word: novel - you certainly won't be tossing your regular camera for this shooter, at least not in its current incarnation. Still the concept of shoot now, ask focus questions later is revolutionary, so hop on past the break for our initial impressions. Right off the bat, you'll notice its diminutive size. If we're frank, we were expecting something more akin to a DSLR - visions no doubt conjured by the immense arrays used to do this sort of wizardry back in the day.
