Jeremy Clarkson pondering run for Parliament?

Jeremy Clarkson pondering run for Parliament?

Jeremy Clarkson, the outspoken host of Top Gear, may be pondering a run at the UK's Parliament, according to a tweet he posted over the weekend. Of course, the note, which has now been retweeted over 4,400 times, comes from a man whose penchant for hyperbole is legendary, so take this musing with the usual grain of salt. There's been no further mention of his political aspirations since the original tweet went up, leading us to assume that it was just idle banter. Even so, Clarkson has no issue being controversial, but it's where he's apparently thinking of running that's adding fuel to the fire – Doncaster North.

Turn your old speakers with 30-pin dock into wireless AirPlay or DLNA speakers

Turn your old speakers with 30-pin dock into wireless AirPlay or DLNA speakers

I don't usually like to write about active Kickstarter projects, but the auris skye project caught my eye.  I've bought Bluetooth receivers for some old docking speakers, and they worked great for turning them into wireless Bluetooth speakers.  No matter how well they work, it's still Bluetooth, though, with its inherent problems of sound compression and needing to keep your device within 30 feet or so of the speakers.  With the auris skye WiFi receiver, your 30-pin Apple-dock speaker will work wirelessly with iOS devices and iTunes on your computer using AirPlay or with Android and Windows devices using DLNA.

Newest HP Spectre 13 Ultrabook Has Extended Trackpad

We've been impressed by HP's Spectre line up for a while, and this new Spectre 13.3" Ultrabook keeps the flame alive and well. At around 3lbs, it is constructed out of aluminum and feels very high quality when you hold it. For reference, I think that it feels sensibly better than my Macbook Air 13, which is probably the other aluminum design that most people know about. In terms of display technologies, things go to the next level: you have the choice between a 1080p (1920×1080) or a qHD (3200×1800) IPS display, which would look rather stunning on a 13.3" laptop.

Republic Wireless to announce Moto X for $300 off-contract?

Republic Wireless to announce Moto X for $300 off-contract?

Republic Wireless made headlines back in November of last year after finally opening their wireless service to the public. Not your typical wireless provider, Republic Wireless offered customers unlimited talk, text, and data for only $20 a month on their “hybrid” calling service — a unique combination of WiFi calling, and Sprint towers — requiring specific handsets to take advantage of that. And therein lies the problem. Republic Wireless' smartphone line up was always less than stellar. The best of the bunch being the Motorola DEFY XT, offered for $250 off-contract.

Yahoo Updates iOS App

Yahoo has just introduced a new iOS app update that will bring with it a bunch of new features, and among them would include animated cinemagraphs. Specially designed for iOS 7, this new updated app from Yahoo will be available for the iPhone and iPod touch, with no immediate mention as to whether the iPad version would be on the receiving end of an updated version. Fernando Delgado, Yahoo's senior director of product management for mobile and emerging products, claimed that the update app will create “an even better experience for discovering and reading content whether in the moment or saving for later.”.

iPad Mini 2 Purported Shell In 'Space Gray' Color Leaked

iPad Mini 2 Purported Shell In 'Space Gray' Color Leaked

Over the past few weeks we've seen a lot of purported iPad mini 2 parts and components being leaked. We've already seen a lot of alleged casings and shells of the new tablet, and the leaks just don't stop coming in. This time around, we get to see a shell touting the ‘Space Gray' color that Apple currently offers with the fifth generation iPod touch and iPhone 5S. This color has actually been used to replace the traditional black color on the iPhone. These images imply that perhaps Apple would offer the iPad mini 2 in Space Gray instead of black.

The casing itself doesn't seem to be radically different from last year's iPad mini.

Infinity Blade III Has Finally Been Released

Infinity Blade III Has Finally Been Released

It was back in August when we first heard that Infinity Blade III, the third title in this popular series, was already under development. At Apple's iPhone launch event on September 10th, the game was unveiled for the first time. Infinity Blade III was shown off during Apple's keynote by ChAIR Entertainment's creative director and founder Donald Mustard, who said that the game takes full advantage of the new 64-bit processor in the iPhone 5s. Even though it is compatible older iOS devices as well, Infinity Blade III has been specifically optimized for iPhone 5s.

Gold iPhone 5s Reportedly A Hit With Customers In China

Gold iPhone 5s Reportedly A Hit With Customers In China

When it was revealed that gold was one of the color options for the new iPhone 5s, we're sure some felt that the color was a bit too gaudy and ostentatious, but it seems that perhaps the gold finish was not meant for everyone as it was suggested that perhaps the color option was designed for markets such as China, where gold is a very popular option as it symbolizes fortune. It turns out that Apple was right in their predictions as it has been reported by Chinese media outlets that the gold iPhone 5s has since been sold out.

Google Keep code reveals plans for Drive integration and video playback

When Google Keep was first announced almost 5 months ago, many an Android user turned to the service as their go-to note taking app. Although not as robust or full featured as apps like Evernote, it was the Keep's ease of use and Google account syncing that led users to favor it over the others. Now that we've all settled into our new home, pinning to-do lists, and reminders to the walls, we're starting to realize that maybe a few extra features wouldn't be such a bad idea. Google's hot on the case.
In a recent update to Keep we saw the addition of reminders.

Subaru debuts tougher-looking Outback for Australia

Subaru debuts tougher-looking Outback for Australia

If you're going to name a car after a specific location or region, you'd better make sure it's taken seriously in the place it's named for. You're not likely to see a Chevrolet Monte Carlo in Monaco, and the Alfa Romeo Montreal was never even officially offered in North America, but the Subaru Outback is another story. Subaru apparently takes the Australian market, whose wilderness its jacked-up Legacy wagon is named for, very seriously. So it is apparently rolling out a revised version of the current Outback in Australia itself.

Skoda downsizing RS lineup

Skoda downsizing RS lineup

There are products in the Volkswagen Group that we wish we got on this side of the Atlantic, and there are those we don't. Škoda's products, by and large, don't fall in the former category – with a few exceptions. Its RS models represent such an exception, but new reports coming in from the Old World suggest that that those may be consigned to the dustbin of history. The RS line (or vRS in certain markets) represent the performance-oriented arm of Škoda, and currently consist of the Fabia RS and Octavia RS.

Battlefield 4 Multiplayer Trailer Highlights Gameplay, Vehicles, Weapon Customizations

The multiplayer beta for EA's Battlefield 4 is expected to launch on October 1 across the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, which means you have close to two weeks to prepare yourself so you don't end up running around like the n00b that you are. Since you can't play the game until the beta is released, EA has gone through the trouble of publishing a new trailer highlighting the different multiplayer gameplay options as well as a slew of new features.

Asus has unveiled a new version of the PadFone Infinity flagship. The smartphone of the Infinity package retains its design and the 5.0" IPS 1080p display, but is now powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 800 chipset with four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.2GHz, Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Asus has also upgraded the camera. It's still a 13MP one, but is now capable of 3MP high-quality photos made of a bigger 13MP picture by combining 3 pixels into one. This sounds a lot like the Nokia's PureView oversampling technology though here Asus calls it PixelMaster. You can bet the 3MP photos shot this way are really impressive.

Ford builds two-millionth EcoBoost engine

Ford's EcoBoost engine lineup is only four years old, but it is growing into an important and popular global engine. As proof of its popularity, Ford just produced its 2 millionth EcoBoost engine – a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder – which rolled off the assembly line in Louisville, Kentucky under the hood of an Escape. Ford now offers five EcoBoost engines around the world ranging from the 1.0-liter inline-three to the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6, and the automaker is expanding production of two of its engine lines to keep up with demand.

Watch a firetruck drive through flooded streets in Colorado

Watch a firetruck drive through flooded streets in Colorado

As far as emergency vehicles go, they don't come much tougher than a fire truck. The rigs which firefighters use to respond to all manner of emergencies are built to get them there, with all the gear they need, help them get the victims out and suppress the fire itself. But every once in a while, even machines as tough-as-nails as fire trucks manage to impress us with their damn-the-odds capabilities. In this video clip below, the fire department in Longmont, Colorado, responds to the scene of floodwaters that had overspilled the banks of the St. Vrain River.

Dell Has No Smartphones For Now, Will Focus On Tablets

Just last week Dell brought back the Venue brand with a new Windows 8.1 tablet and with that being said and done, does this mean that we can look forward to seeing Dell reattempt the smartphone market with more Venue smartphones. Well it turns out that that will not be happening anytime soon. Speaking during an interview with CNBC, Dell founder and CEO, Michael Dell, stated that the company would focus more on the tablet market instead of attempting to break into the smartphone market (again).
