LG Optimus L3 E400 goes quietly up for pre-order in Sweden

In the quietest manner possible, LG's latest Optimus L3 E400 budget smartphone has gone up for pre-order at a Swedish online retailer. The smartphone, despite lacking a massive spec sheet, is bound to bring a serious dash of good looks to the market for lower end Android handsets. There is no information on the CPU or RAM of the device. It features a 3.2" display with the rather lowly resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. A 3MP snapper is present on the back. MicroSD card slot is at your service as well, along with full connectivity suite. There is even an FM radio present.

Chevrolet introduces new Ecologic window sticker, coming first to Sonic

At the Washington Auto Show today, Chevrolet introduced a sticker. Okay, the new Ecologic environmental labels that will be coming to all new Chevy vehicles – starting with the 2013 Sonic – is a lot more than just an adhesive piece of paper. Last year, the EPA revamped its mileage stickers, and GM has realized that many people like more information about the environmental impact of the vehicle they may be buying.

Hyundai says Elantra sales to slow because factory can't keep up with demand

Hyundai's Elantra has been on fire, with sales up 41 percent last year. The compact sedan won North American Car of the Year in January, and the icing on the cake will be a new coupe bodystyle that will soon be landing at dealers. But all is not completely well, according to a report from Bloomberg. Hyundai expects Elantra sales to run into a brick wall of limited production capacity, as the company's Montgomery, Alabama plant is already operating at 110 percent. The plant, which builds the Elantra and its big brother, the midsize Sonata, churned out 338,000 units in 2011. Hyundai sold over 186,000 Elantra models in the U.S.

Are you the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe?

It won't be long before we see the official reveal of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, but predictably, the Internet won't be kept waiting. Consider us unsurprised that a set of grainy photos showing what is claimed to be a badgeless redesigned Santa Fe crossover has appeared ahead of schedule. That said, we're thinking the chrome-heavy maw depicted in these shots suggests that this is probably an overseas version (ix45) – not exactly what we'll see in the States. At least, that's what we're hoping, as the wall of frontal brightwork seems out of step not just with the market, but also Hyundai and its styling position here in North America.

Nielsen: Android still top dog, but Q4 buyers preferred iPhone 4S

Nielsen crunched Q4 numbers today, and the results will likely have Apple analysts jumping up and down. The findings, focused on those who've purchased a smartphone within the previous three months, indicate a huge spike — from 25 percent in October to 45 percent in December — in iPhone purchases since October as an obvious result of the launch of the 4S. Conversely, the number of recent Android buyers fell by 14 percent in the same period.

CyanogenMod 9 Alpha 0 brings Ice Cream Sandwich to HP TouchPads

If you'd like to run Android 4.0 on your HP TouchPad instead of watching videos of someone else doing it, your time is now, as an early Alpha 0 build of CyanogenMod 9 has just rolled out. Now, living on the bleeding edge will cause some discomfort when it comes to Market access, hardware accelerated video and using the slate's camera, but fixes are expected as the project continues on. Also fresh for this release is the full source code, if you'd like to truly roll your own edition of Ice Cream Sandwich — if you're wondering, a triple boot webOS / CM7 / CM9 configuration is reportedly possible, but not recommended.

Rhys Millen's Hyundai Veloster rally car is about par for the course

Rhys Millen's Hyundai Veloster rally car is about par for the course

We can think of a handful of automobiles that appear to be closer to golf carts than what we'd otherwise think of as "cars". Like the Smart ForTwo, for example. Or the Tata Nano. Rhys Millen's Hyundai Veloster rally car, on the other hand, is not the first vehicle that would come to mind for schlepping clubs around the fairway, but Rhys himself appears to think otherwise with this latest video just released by Hyundai.
In the clip after the jump, you'll see what happens when Millen gives new meaning to the notion of picking the right driver for the course.

Diabetic condition leads to wild snowy ride for Kia owner

The blurry screencap shown above is of a driver in morning traffic on Pennsylvania's I-81, in mid-jump, hurtling down the snowy median. The man who captured the video, Shawn Lucas, thought the driver was trying to evade police, but it turns out the 61-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Kia was likely having a diabetic emergency. Before this video was taken, she had driven onto and stopped on the median, and other drivers pulled over to play Good Samaritan and push her off.

Do We Really Want Audi To Think This Small In America. Perhaps. It is perhaps with all the speed of a mighty iceberg, but increasingly, more and more North American buyers appear willing to think smaller when pondering their next auto purchase. The other shoe, which still has largely yet to drop, is for automakers to convince consumers of the merits of a luxury subcompact, paying a price premium for a longer list of creature comforts, options and badge appeal.

Nokia might seem as though they are on the decline, but let us remember that they are a behemoth back in their day, and currently still conquer the entry level market where basic phones are concerned. Nokia has just announced that their Series 40 phones have touched the 1.5 billion figure in terms of sales to date. The 1.5 billionth Series 40 phone sold was a Nokia Asha 303, where a 21-year-old woman in Sao Paulo, Brazil, picked it up. No idea on whether this is just a coincidence or plain good marketing, but the Asha 303 is right now the flagship model of the current S40 phones.
