Sony Xperia SP Render Spotted?

Sony Xperia SP Render Spotted?

I am quite sure that the world has yet to settle down from all the dust that was kicked up by this evening's Samsung Galaxy S4 release, and the world of high end smartphones has just gotten a little bit more crowded. The thing is, will there be room for other players as well. Sony Mobile certainly thinks so, where there already has been a render making its way around Chinese sites, showing off what is claimed to be an official press image of the rumored Sony Xperia SP.

Volvo considering offering V60 wagon in the US

Volvo considering offering V60 wagon in the US

For the 2014 model year, the Volvo product line is shrinking to just five models in the United States: the S60, S80, XC60, XC70 and XC90. This comes following the death of the C30 hatchback and C70 convertible, which are being discontinued after the 2013 model year. The S40 sedan and V50 wagon were axed two years ago, as was the larger V70. That may not be the case, however. According to Automotive News, Volvo is rethinking its decision to not sell the V60 wagon, pictured, in the United States. The automaker had originally decided to not offer the V60 in our market due to declining American wagon sales.

Audioengine A5+ speaker review

Audioengine A5+ speaker review

Audioengine products may not be for sale in every retail outlet or even known by many consumers, but anyone who is looking for a pair of quality desktop speakers should give Audioengine a serious look - especially their A5+ speakers. I have owned the A5 speakers for some time, and when given a chance to try the upgraded A5+, I was curious to see what - if any - improvements were made. Let's get this out of the way: The A5+ speakers are not featherweights. They are (for desktop speakers) big, heavy and can be loud enough to introduce the neighbors to whatever unusual musical taste you may harbor.

White House to Look Into Ban on Unlocking Smartphones

White House to Look Into Ban on Unlocking Smartphones

After receiving over 100,000 signatures needed on the “We the People” online petition platform, the White House has responded to the thousands of smartphone owners who disagree with the updated ban on unlocking mobile phones. In its response, the White House explains that while the process that made unlocking devices illegal is placed for a reason, the ban has failed to reflect on what goes on among smartphone consumers today. “The White House agrees with the 114,000+ of you who believe that consumers should be able to unlock their cell phones without risking criminal or other penaltiles,” the office says.

Bertone Jet 2+2 is a family-style Aston Martin Rapide

Bertone Jet 2+2 is a family-style Aston Martin Rapide

Leave it to Bertone to take a stab at improving the look of the Aston Martin Rapide. The coachbuilder may have done just that with its Jet 2+2 shooting brake unveiled here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Using the sexy Aston four-door as a basis, the coachbuilder worked the Aston's rear quarters and lifted the roof into a proper hatch, resulting in a machine with plenty of cargo space out back (though rear seat room doesn't appear to be much better than the production sedan). An LED span joins the vehicle's two taillights, and the design looks far more cohesive than the original renderings led us to believe.

This is Citroën's amazing diorama tribute to celebrate its WRC winnings

Citroen has taken a unique stab at commemorating Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena's nine World Rally Championship wins. Rather than work up yet another tired video of the champions expounding on the virtues, trials and and tribulations that come with being the very best for nearly a decade straight, the company whipped up a diorama atop Citroen DS3. The scale model covers nine separate rally terrains, including bits from Rally Finland and the Acropolis Rally. Each one of the nine sections features a 1:43 scale version of the duo's rally car from each year of victorious competition.

Thanko - iPad mini case with 16X Zoom lens and macro lens

Thanko - iPad mini case with 16X Zoom lens and macro lens

Here's something that I truly would never have thought about. It's an iPad mini case kit that, along with the case itself, has both a 16X zoom lens and a macro lens. Put the case on your iPad mini and attach the 16X zoom lens to it – it will turn your iPad Mini into a high-powered camera that can capture distant objects.

Change the lens to the macro lens and your iPad mini will become a high performance camera able to take very detailed pictures of tiny objects with from 60 to 220 times power.

When you are done taking pictures, the case can be used as a regular iPad mini case.

Virtual Library Concept Might Make Reading On Subways A Reality

For those of you who take the subway to work and back each day, chances are you would find that most folks have their noses and thumbs buried in a smartphone or tablet, as it seems to get more and more rare these days to see someone reading a book instead. These smartphones and tablets will most probably rely on a pre-loaded game or movie, since the New York City metro system lacks an Internet connection on most of its routes.

Amazon Cautions Kindle iOS App Users from Upgrading

Amazon Cautions Kindle iOS App Users from Upgrading

Amazon tells users of its Kindle app for iOS not to upgrade their e-book reading app to version 3.6.1, which hit the App Store yesterday. That version, according to reports, may erase the user's book library completely. It is puzzling why this bug managed to pass through Amazon's QA team, but apparently it was a deliberate move from Amazon. The e-book giant claims that the update causes the app to “deregister,” which removes all items on your iPhone or iPad.

School Bus Driver Caught Texting While Driving

School Bus Driver Caught Texting While Driving

Texting while driving has been one activity a good majority of people realize is a terrible idea, and yet there are a number of us who can't help but to take our eyes off the road for a few seconds to read and maybe respond to a text. But one thing we think we can all agree on is if you're a school bus driver you should refrain from such activities, especially if you're working. Robert Stancheski from Seminole County, Florida is being accused of texting while driving his designated route, which shouldn't be a surprise to learn it's against school policy to do so, that is, unless it's an absolute emergency.

Apple Denies Being Monopolist in Downloading via App Store

Apple Denies Being Monopolist in Downloading via App Store

Apple is on trial not because of patent-related battles, but on accusations of violating antitrust laws as it only allow iPhone users to download apps through its App Store. The company's lawyers argued that Apple does not violate such laws, citing how it does not set the prices for apps or in-app purchases as well as charging a 30-percent fee for using its app platform. The prosecution and the critics, however, countered that iPhone users only have one option when purchasing apps for their smartphone, thus concludes Apple being a monopolist.

Ford finally issues recall for 230K minivans over rust problems

Ford finally issues recall for 230K minivans over rust problems

The rust issue in the rear wheel wells of 2004-2007 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans has finally led to a recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began an investigation into the matter in 2011, said investigation being upgraded to an engineering analysis a year later while NHTSA tried to figure out how many model years should be included in the assessment. Ford has decided to recall all of the 230,000 minivans potentially affected, namely those sold in salt-belt states and countries like Canada.

The 2nd anniversary of the catastrophic “Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami” that hit northern Japan is approaching (March 11). And I'd like to write about Earthquake kits which are very important in Japan, where massive earthquakes can hit at any time. When they do, like 2 years ago, there can be a loss of electricity, shortages of basic necessities such as clean water, exposure to the elements, etc. A fun and convenient way for your kids to remember to grab their emergency earthquake kits is to make them out of a cute stuffed animal or toy.

TiVo Mini Extends Set-Top-Box To Additional Rooms For $99

If you take your DVR serious, you may have sprung for a TiVo instead of trusting your TV-watching needs to your cable or satellite provider. Up until this point, if you wanted additional TiVos in your home, you had to purchase additional units, which could be quite costly, especially if it's a room you only occasionally watch TV on. TiVo is announcing a new accessory to its main set-top-box that will make those infrequently used rooms less costly to have a TiVo in.

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: 'Luxury, power, refinement, handling'

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: 'Luxury, power, refinement, handling'

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people – fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts. First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission.
