Batmobile lawsuit may have ramifications for customizing industry

Batmobile lawsuit may have ramifications for customizing industry

While George Barris is preparing to sell his original 1966 Batmobile at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, another custom builder is attempting to stave off a copyright lawsuit. Mark Towle has been building Batmobile replicas through his business, Gotham Garage, for years, and has sold off two versions of the famous '66 TV car and at least one recreation of Bruce Wayne's ride from the 1989 film.

Dead Space 3 Xbox 360 Demo To Arrive Early

Dead Space 3 Xbox 360 Demo To Arrive Early

The early bird gets the worm, but then again, who would want to live on a diet of worms. Certainly not us, unless it comes in all the flavors found under the jelly bean umbrella. But I digress, that particular figure of speech would definitely resonate with Origin users who are looking forward to a demo of Dead Space 3 on the Xbox 360 console, where it is said to be handed out a week early compared to the ordinary man on the street.

How Washington's fiscal cliff deal helps NASCAR and electric motorcycles

How Washington's fiscal cliff deal helps NASCAR and electric motorcycles

With the so-called fiscal cliff looming like a New Year's Day hangover, US lawmakers were able to strike an eleventh-hour deal that should prove beneficial to couples making less than $450,000 a year. Like any piece of US legislation, though, there was enough pork stuffed inside to ensure lobbyists and well-connected constituents remain happy. As a part of the deal, a few tax credits were extended that pertain to the automotive world. On one hand, a 2009 tax credit was extended for electric motorcycles and scooters that gives buyers a break of up to 10-percent of the purchase price (up to $2,500).

2013 Buick Verano Turbo

2013 Buick Verano Turbo

Not Luxury. Not Sport. Not Buick. Not Bad.
Those of you who still think of the Buick Verano as some sort of callously badge-engineered, gussied up version of the Chevrolet Cruze ("Why would anyone spend that much money on Buick's Cruze?" you may have been heard to mutter) have got the wrong idea. Entirely. Even in its most modest form, the Verano turns out to be a sedan that is feature-rich, insulated from wind and road noise in proper luxury car fashion, pretty good to drive and not bad to look at in the new school of high-nosed pedestrian-impact-regulated fashion.

HTC DROID DNA Android smartphone review

HTC DROID DNA Android smartphone review

Is it just me or does it seem like every new Android smartphone looks almost exactly like the last new Android smartphone. It sure felt like deja vu all over again when I opened the box that Verizon Wireless sent me a few days ago. Inside was the HTC DROID DNA, their latest and greatest high-end Android smartphone. Is it the same as all the others, or are there a few goodies that make it stand out from the crowd.

Optimus Popularis Life Sized Booth At CES 2013 By Art Lebedev

Art Lebedev, the name behind uber expensive computer peripherals with a novelty factor, will be making an appearance over at CES 2013 next week, where they want to show off the new Optimus Popularis at Las Vegas, Nevada. The Optimus Popularis might be rated to be a cheaper and smaller version of the extremely pricey Optimus Maximus, where the latter is a full-sized keyboard with small, modifiable displays on every key, but you can bet your bottom hard earned dollar that is still going to be expensive and burn a sizable hole in your pocket.

Father Hires In-Game Assassins To Discourage Son From Playing RPG Games

Father Hires In-Game Assassins To Discourage Son From Playing RPG Games

“Too much gaming can kill you.” That has been proven true recently, when a man in China died after a 40-hour gaming marathon. In a bid to save his 23-year old son from the dangers of over-gaming, a father in China took desperate measures and hired in-game “hitmen” to discourage his son from playing further. According to his father, Xiao Feng spends too much time on games and can't even stick to a job. Apparently Xiao Feng's addiction for role-playing games annoyed his father.
So Mr.

2014 Maserati Quattroporte goes on a night run

While it was in development, Maserati rolled out its 2014 Quattroporte for a little testing, but rather than slather the big luxury sedan in gobs of camouflage to protect from it prying eyes, engineers used the cover of darkness to conceal the vehicle's design. Then they made a video about their cleverness and posted it on the Internet. The team spent some time whipping around the Balocco Proving Ground with chief test driver Fabrizio Galvan at the controls to evaluate the sedan's new drivetrain, noise levels and handling in the real world.

Samsung Ordered To Reveal Sales Data

Samsung Ordered To Reveal Sales Data

The Apple versus Samsung battle is far from being over. Both companies are still exchanging blows in court, and the recent update seems to go in favor of Apple as U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh denies Samsung's request to keep its sales figures secret while the company appeals an earlier sealing order. Revealing sales data while in a patent lawsuit may be the last thing that Samsung needs right now.

California DMV opens door to reissuing classic license plates

California DMV opens door to reissuing classic license plates

Like in the UK, California's license plates follow the vehicles they originate on, not the owner, so residents can easily pick out cars that have been in continuous California circulation since way back in the last millennium. A car with yellow tags with black lettering was registered between 1956 and 1962, one with yellow tags with black lettering is from circa 1963 to 1969, and one with blue tags with yellow lettering got them sometime from 1970 to 1982. State Governor Jerry Brown has signed a bill allowing for the return of those plate styles.

Panasonic VS-HPS200S Cordless Phone and Tablet

Panasonic VS-HPS200S Cordless Phone and Tablet

With the popularity of smartphones and mobile phones today, it seems that landline phones may be moving on towards the road to obscurity. With mobile phones becoming handy, why would there be a need for a landline phone. While people can still offer a variety of reasons, it is becoming common for people to prefer getting a mobile phone than having a landline set up at home. But for those who still find them relevant, there are makers like Panasonic that still try to find a way to convince more and more people to still have landlines at home.

EV owners in WA to pay extra $100 annual fee

EV owners in WA to pay extra $100 annual fee

Anyone purchasing an EV in the state of Washington will have to pay an extra $100 with their registration – a bit counter-intuitive, considering that the government generally promotes EV purchases with incentives. You see, owners of gasoline-powered vehicles in WA pay an annual gasoline tax, and this new EV fee ensures that all drivers pay for the annual upkeep of roads. According to the new rule, vehicles powered by electricity and capable of speeds in excess of 35 miles per hour will have to pay $100 with their registration, starting on or after February 1, 2013.
