Motorola drops price of the Moto X Developer Edition

As some of you may know, Motorola also sells an unlocked version of the Moto X in the US. The Developer Edition, as it is called, comes with a network unlock as well as an unlocked bootloader, allowing you to use any GSM SIM with the phone or install a custom ROM. The unlocked version was originally sold at a steep $649.99 but Motorola has seen fit to drop the price by a $100, bringing it down to a more palatable $549.99.
Specification-wise, the Developer Edition is identical to the carrier locked version.

SRT has narrowed down a list of over 11,000 names for the color submitted by Viper fans to three finalists: Competition Blue, Overtaking Blue and Viral Blue. Yes, we covered this news yesterday, but we didn't have any live photos of the car wearing the new color. T-Mobile Nexus 5 launch going down November 20th?

While those interested in buying the Nexus 5 from the Google Play Store have been able to do so since day one (October 31st), those waiting to buy the device on Sprint or T-Mobile have had to wait. Customers with the Now Network will only have one more day before they can grab the thing for $150 after signing a new two-year contract, but T-Mobile's customers are still in the dark as to when they can expect a launch. TmoNews has helped shed some light on said darkness, though, as leaked documents suggest Magenta will be looking to launch the Nexus 5 November 20th.

Samsung reaffirms its support for Tizen, sheds light on its future

A report in Korean media emerged, shedding light on SamsungÂ's future plans for Tizen. According to the head of Samsung ElectronicsÂ' visual display unit, the OS represents a Â"significant investmentÂ" for Samsung, and much progress has been achieved in its development. The companyÂ's executive further iterated that a Tizen smartphone will be released before any other device. However, the launch of SamsungÂ's first handset has been pushed for 2014, not this year as initially expected.

On a couple of different occasions recently, we saw the Samsung Z9005 Redwood appear with Tizen on board.

Compared to the stock Chevrolet SS sports sedan, Jeff Gordon's version looks much meaner (in a good way). Somehow it comes off as more butch than the upgrades would suggest, almost as if it has a wide-body kit (compare the Chevrolet Jeff Gordon SS Performance Sedan Concept to the near-production car). But Chevy says that the exterior upgrades are limited to a satin-red exterior, a more aggressive custom front grille, a carbon-fiber rear spoiler and custom-finished 20-inch wheels. Of course, it's been lowered, which not only enhances the handling, but also its stance.

Ford's highly influential head of design, J Mays, has announced that he'll be retiring from his position after 33 years in the industry, 16 of which were at the Dearborn, MI-based company. Upon departure, he'll be succeeded as group vice president of design by Moray Callum. If that last name sounds familiar, yes, he's the brother of Jaguar's Ian Callum. It's difficult to explain just how big of a role Mays had on not just Ford's design over the years, but on the entire industry.

Last week, we were tipped off to a forthcoming soak test for Verizon's Motorola DROID Maxx, DROID Ultra and DROID Mini. Said update is looking to fix the same camera issues that the Moto X suffered before getting its first update. Verizon's changelog only mentions “improvements for camera quality,” but if the Moto X update is anything to go by then that should specifically mean improved HDR performance, faster shutter and better focusing. Michael Bay may not have been around to pull the sheets (though he did beam a recorded message of thanks to the crowd), but three of the automotive stars of his upcoming Transformers 4 blockbuster were shown in Las Vegas tonight, just ahead of SEMA's opening day tomorrow. As you'd expect, all were wearing the Chevrolet bow tie, too. Headlining the group of three cars was, of course, the newest imagining of the Bumblebee Camaro. We've seen pictures of this very car on Bay's own website already, and we'll admit that the concept looked almost as good in the metal as it did in the original, artfully produced glamor shots.

Even though we (meaning car enthusiasts as a whole) don't spend our days driving Lamborghinis, they're somehow a familiar, known quantity. We know we'll be wowed by a Lambo, and we have a pretty fair idea of what the sound and acceleration feel like. We know a Lamborghini is going to be wildly expensive, hopelessly impractical and eye-wateringly thirsty, but the charm that comes with the badge outweighs everything else. We also recognize that we, as enthusiasts, are in the minority, and that the average joe is likely to be far more blown away by a Raging Bull than the average gearhead. That's what makes this an entertaining video.

American auto enthusiasts may associate the letters ATS with Cadillac's smallest sedan, but Europeans will know it as Automobili Turismo e Sport. The marque was founded in 1963 by former Ferrari employees who'd had enough of old man Enzo's notoriously difficult manner, built a road car and an F1 challenger (signing Phil Hill to drive it), and then quickly disappeared again. Last year a consortium gathered to revive the marque, unveiling the ATS Sport 1000 track car a few months ago, and now they're back with the design for the new ATS 300 Leggera.

Lexus to display turbocharged LF-NX Concept at Tokyo Motor Show

Concept cars typically have a short lifespan. They debut at a major international auto show, then make the rounds of the lesser local shows, and that's pretty much it. They might be loaned out for test drives or put on display in a museum, but by and large they've had their fifteen minutes of fame by that point. That said, Japan's automakers have found a way to keep these show cars going and keep them in the news. They're modifying them and giving them a fresh lease on life.

That's what Subaru is doing with the Viziv concept for the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, and what Lexus is doing as well with the LF-NX concept.

Valve's Steam Controller, first introduced in late September, isn't intended to replace the traditional gamepad: It's meant to replace the keyboard and mouse. Games like Portal 2 already work well on an Xbox 360 gamepad (standard issue for PC gaming in the living room). The real issue is making the other 90 percent of Steam games play comfortably in an environment that doesn't support their standard input method of the keyboard and mouse.

American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), the Michigan-based company that has been modifying 4WD vehicles for hardcore off-road duty since 1997, will be introducing an all-new concept at SEMA next week. The prototype, which represents the company's first build with Dodge, is based on the burly 2014 Ram 2500 Crew Cab Diesel. Unlike the company's familiar AEV Jeep Wrangler builds, which are insanely capable off-road but lacking heavy load capacity, the one-of-a-kind Ram Concept pickup provides much greater cargo and towing capabilities with few concessions in terms of off-pavement sturdiness.
