Hands-on with Tablo, a DVR that streams over-the-air TV nearly anywhere

Hands-on with Tablo, a DVR that streams over-the-air TV nearly anywhere

For a start, the Tablo device and its apps are flexible in both the way you record media and where you send it. There should be dual-tuner ($200 estimated street price) and quad-tuner ($250) DVR models shipping around late January, both of which will have dual-band WiFi, Ethernet and two USB ports for external hard drives. The mobile clients will send video to nearby TVs through AirPlay and Chromecast adapters. While there's no current plans to release native apps for Windows Phone or other platforms, they may not be necessary when the web app is mobile-optimized and streams over HTML5.

Griffin Technology WoodTones headphone review

Griffin Technology WoodTones headphone review

The Griffin Technology's WoodTones headphones remind me of our local weatherman. How's that for a comparison. Seriously, I have been reviewing many headphones in many price ranges, with the sweet spot at about $100-150. Expensive enough to sound good, yet not so expensive that you have to mortgage the house. And therein lies the problem. So many companies are making headphones in this price area, that even though they all look and sound good, they usually sound similar.

2014 Chrysler 300S gets all black and blue

2014 Chrysler 300S gets all black and blue

Outside of the SRT variant, if you want the sharpest-looking Chrysler 300, you'll probably want the 300S trim. This showy variant has traditionally sported larger wheels and some subtle body changes to set it apart from the herd, along with its own unique take on the big sedan's interior. For 2014, the S will be set apart even further. A number of exterior items will be blacked-out, including black chrome around the grille and Chrysler badges finished in a liquid-chrome finish with a black center. Black moldings are standard, while owners can get an extra dose of style by opting to have the roof painted Gloss Black.

NHTSA says road fatalities up 3.3% in 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has crunched the numbers, and its data says that 2012 was a deadlier year for US motorists than 2011, with a 3.3-percent increase in road fatalities. 33,561 people were killed, with much of the blame being placed on an unseasonably warm winter that put more people behind the wheel than usual. Although 1,082 more people were killed, 72 percent were killed during the first quarter of the year, when snow and cold weather often do their part to keep people off the streets, according to The Detroit News.

Philips Amio Offers Budget Friendly Tablet

Philips Amio Offers Budget Friendly Tablet

There is one major difference between Android-powered tablets as well as iOS-powered tablets from Apple, and that would be the sheer number of models of the former group compared to the latter. When it comes to tablets that run on the Android operating system, you can virtually find one that fits all budgets, ranging from the low end to mid-range and high end models. For the budget-friendly segment, we have the likes of the Google Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab, and Amazon Kindle Fire range that offer decent performance without breaking the bank, but if those are still too expensive for your budget, Philips has come up with the Philips Amio.

Robot 'Commits Suicide' On Stove

For all the amount of artificial intelligence that a robotic vacuum cleaner is supposed to have, here is a case where it actually experienced a fatal miscalculation. Apparently, a cleaning robot was reported to have switched itself on before making its way over to a hot plate. Needless to say, when it was on the hot plate, the entire robot started to melt like a T-1000 at the end of the Terminator 2 movie. Obviously, it resulted in a fire that started licking at the owner's home, all the while being engulfed by flames. I suppose that this might be the first case of a robot suicide, if you will.

Samsung on Region lock: you need 5 min of voice calls

Samsung introduced the controversial Region lock with its Galaxy Note 3 phablet and that caused quite a stir – the idea of being unable to use your unlocked device with some SIM cards sounded most unpleasant. Samsung quickly clarified that this Region lock has been implemented to stem the grey market imports and that it goes away if the first SIM card you use is from the region you bought the device from. After that you can pop in a SIM card from a different region and it should work as expected.
It turned out this wasnÂ't quite all there is to it, though.

The rest of the world's most recent Honda Civic was introduced for 2012, and it looks much the same as the 2014 model Honda will release in January to European and Asian markets. In fact, not much has changed, but a retuned power steering system, revised front and rear damping rates and rear wheel toe and camber adjustments are touted to make the hatchback drive better, World Car Fans reports. There are some small visual changes, such as privacy glass for the lower rear window, a piano-black front bumper that previously was dark gray and piano-black trim replacing body-color pieces around the license plate area, tailgate and lower bumper.

Last month, spy shooters captured our first look at the fully camouflaged GLK prototype out testing, and now they have managed to get us a glimpse inside the luxury crossover. If your commute to work is just a few blocks down the road, driving does not make much sense, and walking would take a whole lot more time than it is worth, making the bicycle one of the most cost effective modes of transport to get around. This is even more pronounced if you live in a suburb, and most shops and stores are close by. The thing is, riding a bicycle will also offer you health benefits of exercise, not to mention making the world a whole lot greener since there are no carbon emissions to worry about.

In the past, flashing a custom ROM onto your Android device such as CyanogenMod was not a feat for the less tech savvy. It used to be that users would have to know how to root their device, and then learn all the complicated steps needed to back-up their devices and prepare to flash the custom ROM onto their phones. Granted this is not such a difficult task if you are able to follow instructions, but it still felt daunting knowing that a wrong move would result in your brand new handset becoming a very expensive paperweight. Well the hard part is over as the CyanogenMod Installer has finally made its way onto the Google Play store.
