Using an old Apple iPad keyboard dock with your iPhone 5

Using an old Apple iPad keyboard dock with your iPhone 5

So, got a new iPhone 5 but can't find a charging dock.  Bluetooth keyboards aren't your style.  Well, do you have an Apple iPad keyboard dock.  All you'll need is the Apple's $29 Lightning to 30-pin Adapter.
I'm a dock kind of person.  It's a personal thing.  The lack of 3rd party accessories for the new iPhone 5 leaves a pretty big gap for us dock lovers.

At the same time, I'm also not crazy about Bluetooth keyboards.  I own an Apple Bluetooth keyboard which works fine, but then I'd need a way to prop up the phone.

Slapping someone for looking at Facebook is officially the best job

Slapping someone for looking at Facebook is officially the best job

Here's good work if you can find it–eight bucks an hour to slap another human being. Repeatedly. Writer Maneesh Sethi was disappointed with how much time he wasted looking at social media instead of doing work, and posted a Craiglist ad looking for a dedicated slapper. Every time he logged onto Facebook, he wanted someone to hit him. Considering there are lots of people who would slap me for free, it's no surprise that his ad received 20 inquiries in the first hour.

Samsung begins delivering Jelly Bean to UK-based Galaxy S III owners

Samsung has already started on the Jelly Bean upgrade path for the Galaxy S III, but that hasn't meant much so far unless you live in Samsung's homeland. The update's global relevance is expanding in grand fashion now that the company has confirmed the software is rolling out to Galaxy S III units across the UK. Variants on the smartphone for British carriers should get their taste of Android 4.1 over the course of a multi-week update process that brings everyone to the new version.

Mazda1 under study

Mazda1 under study

Small seems to be the big new trend among automakers, and Mazda is trying to decide if it wants a piece of the potentially huge tiny-car pie. The Mazda1 would slot beneath the company's B-segment Mazda2, says Mazda's GM of global sales and marketing, Yasuhiro Aoyama, and could might be ready for sale toward the end of this decade. Aoyama was interviewed by GoAuto at this week's Australian International Motor Show in Sydney.

Rumors indicate Mazda could go one of two ways with the little car. It could either shoot for low cost and compete with cars like the Tata Nano or Mazda could instead take on Volkswagen's Up at a higher price point.

Next Mass Effect title will not feature Command Shephard

When it comes to the Mass Effect franchise, Commander Shephard is a name that many gamers are probably familiar with. It's akin to thinking of Master Chief when talking about Halo, which is why we wouldn't be surprised if there are many gamers out there who will expect Command Shephard to be in future Mass Effect titles. If you're a fan of the Commander, you might want to brace yourself as come Mass Effect 4 (or whatever the next Mass Effect title will be), the game will be featuring a new hero as opposed to the one that gamers have grown accustomed to. This was revealed by BioWare Montreal when they spoke to the folks at VG247.

Moogfest isn't happening for another week, but the synth-maker couldn't wait to take the wraps off of its latest bit of technology. Still in the early days of beta-testing ,the LEV-96 is a far cry from the classic analog instruments we've come to associate with Moog. The company is showing off the sensoriactuator in its early stages by affixing it to a guitar, with two pickup channels beneath each of the acoustic's strings.

Google may soon launch new 3G-equipped 32GB Nexus 7 tablet

. Nobody knows for sure what updates Google (GOOG) has planned for its Nexus 7 tablet. It's rumored that a 32GB model will replace the 16GB model without a price hike, a $99 model will be released and a 3G model will also debut before the end of the year. Tabletblog.de is now reporting that it has a leaked listing for the 3G-equipped Nexus 7 that shows specs pointing to GSM and WCDMA connectivity.

Google's Q3 2012 earnings: $14.10 billion in revenue, $2.74 billion in operating income

In an apparent error, Google's Q3 2012 earnings have gone live smack dab in the middle of the trading day, instead of after the closing bell as expected. Early indications are that the search giant has notched third quarter revenues of $14.10 billion, representing a 45 percent uptick compared to Q3 2011. GAAP operating income in the third quarter of 2012 was $2.74 billion, or 19 percent of revenues, and that would explain the near 10 percent slide in the company's stock price.

A couple of days ago it was reported that the Call of Duty Elite service would go free when Black Ops 2 launches on the 13th of November. While that sounds like good news for Elite subscribers who did not want to pay for the $50 a year subscription, this might not be so good news for Wii U gamers. If you'd wanted to watch Aereo's unique antenna-to-internet TV streaming until today, you had to tune in from an iOS device or Roku box. That's not a lot of choice for placeshifting, is it. A fresh update to the company's streaming service has widened the choices considerably for New Yorkers to include all the major browsers on Macs and Windows PCs. As long as you're using a recent version of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera or Safari, you can catch up on Ion or Telemundo while you're checking email.

"Taking one's sweet time" just took on an entirely new meaning. Well over a year after Micron first introduced its RealSSD P320h PCI Express SSD, the aforesaid device is finally hitting the general availability stage. And with that, the flood of reviews begins. What sets this guy apart right out of the box is its native stature; much like Fusion-io (and very unlike most all other rivals from OCZ, Intel, LSI, etc.), this thing sidesteps the mishmash of SATA / SAS controllers and opts for a direct-attached PCIe approach.

. There's no doubt about it that Microsoft's (MSFT) upcoming Windows 8 is a huge upgrade. Unlike the transition between previous Windows operating systems, Windows 8 is mostly a fresh break from a user interface standpoint. It's designed for touchscreen tablets, Ultrabooks and hybrid tablet PCs, and it will take some getting used to.

Car reports Mercedes-Benz may be considering expanding its G-Class line to include a new, smaller model. The so-called GLG would serve as a competitor for the upcoming, next-generation Land Rover Defender. Internally, the smaller G wears the code name X156 and will be based on the A-Class architecture. Expect to see styling lifted straight from the larger G, complete with a horizontal roof line and near-vertical back hatch.

LG Optimus G Review

. We were at the LG Optimus G launch in Korea  on September 17*, where we were able to briefly play with it. The Optimus G is the first smartphone to launch with the Quad-Core SnapDragon S4 Pro processor, so it is supposed to offer state-of-the-art performance. From what we have seen with the pre-production unit in Korea, it was fast indeed.
It looks like LG is back in the game of high-end smartphones with this well crafted unit that is truly a great competitor for the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S3.
