Developer interest in Android waning? Oh, please!

Developer interest in Android waning? Oh, please!

I hate studies. No, not that stuff I do at college (though I absolutely hate that too), but rather the alternative dictionary meaning, " to investigate or examine, as by observation, research, etc.". I understand that hate is a very powerful word, and I admit that systematic analysis of data can be a very powerful tool, but the unfortunate issue is that more often than not, the "studies" that gain mainstream attention always, always have a company with something to gain funding it.

Nokia reportedly footing the bill to put Lumia 900s in AT&T employee pockets

. While the launch date has shifted several times over the past two months, BGR reported in January that the Lumia 900 would become available from AT&T at a shocking $99.99 price point - the lowest launch price for a flagship phone in recent history. The handset's release will be accompanied by a marketing and advertising blitz aiming to familiarize the U.S. with Windows Phone, but educating the sales staff at AT&T stores and encouraging them to pitch the handset is a crucial piece of the puzzle that could lead to the device's success.

Apple Details 2010 Patent Negotiations Held With Samsung – Met 4 Times Before Going “Thermonuclear War”

Here’s an interesting story from the guys at TheVerge. We’ve all heard or read about the long, drawn out fight-to-the-death patent lawsuits from Apple and Samsung. It got so bad that we just stopped reporting on them (unless it was a major development/ruling). Well, back when the Apple vs. Samsung lawsuits first hit our desks, we heard from Apple that they actually reached out to Samsung before ever going to court, letting them know of their alleged patent infringement.

The phone is said to be arriving next Thursday on March 29th, and should be priced in the less than $200 price range.

Chevy Camaro ZL1 production delay could mean very limited 2012 model year

Nearly two weeks ago, we reported news of a "quality assessment" issue with the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 that was holding up deliveries and further production. We checked in with Chevrolet spokesman Monte Doran today to get some clarification on where things stand with the 580-horsepower coupe after being alerted by a reader that Camaro5 forum members with the car on order are growing increasingly frustrated with the delay, seemingly unable to get a clear status update on the fate of their vehicles.

Nokia's been an annual fixture at the Open Snowboarding Championships for a few years. While one gets sponsorship dollars, the other gleans a slice of snow sport cool. At this year's event, Nokia rigged up 18 Lumia 800s to capture the snowboarders' mid-air posturing, recording the video with a specially developed app. After a WiFi hook-up (and presumably a little bit of editing), the result was the montage you can see up top, made from around 100 different videos.

Supercomputers at the forefront of medical practice. The notion is by no means a stretch of the imagination. Yet, research of this kind mostly goes unnoticed — that is, unless the computational wizardry handholding these advancements belongs to Jeopardy!'s AI king. Motherboard makers drop Intel 7 series board prices

A new round of price drops is affecting motherboard makers using Intel's 7 series chipset before it is even officially announced. According to a report by Digitimes, first-tier motherboard makers reduced their prices in an effort to compete for market share. Apparently, the original plan was to raise prices to make up for higher copper prices, but the price reductions may have been necessary as there are fears of slower growth in the motherboard market that typically lays the foundation for a highly competitive phase with price reductions.

Restricted to only 50 units, the unicorn shooter will go on sale come June for a cool 2,620,000 yen (or around $31,770) - a hefty premium over the regular (read: black and chrome) permutations which cost $7,995. Apple developers test-driving the latest Mountain Lion (10.8) release may have noticed some higher-res graphics erroneously popping up in "unexpected places," such as the double-size phone icon that appears alongside an audio chat invitation in Messages. One such dev reported his findings to Ars Technica, as you can see evidenced in the graphic above. This mild slip-up could imply that Apple plans to release Macs with high-density displays later this year, or, at the very least, that Mountain Lion will be Retina-ready.

While we know the hardware is more than capable, sometimes devices are updated based on user-base or how long it's been out. It's good to know AT&T didn't take age into consideration for the ATRIX 4G.

Google's just pushed a very nice and useful upgrade to Google Voice in the Google Play Store. The application will now integrate with your dialer so you won't have to leave your missed calls list to check voicemail. New voicemail from a particular call will show up to the right of it and you can play it right there. It's a great feature that does even more to make the Google Voice experience more seamless than some carriers' own visual voicemail services. They've also added the ability to slow down messages (for catching a phone number or address) and speeding up messages (for getting through a long voicemail).

Small, rear-wheel drive, manually shifted coupes can be exciting, no. Fun and zippy to drive, and because of their tighter dimensions and lower weight, they tend to be easy on the gas, right. Well, in the case of the Subaru BRZ and the Scion FR-S, maybe not as much as we'd have hoped. Sure, they have smallish 2.0-liter four-cylinders and six-speed manual transmissions, but their hunger for gasoline is just average. Official EPA fuel efficiency numbers are in, and the BRZ and FR-S with manual transmissions net 22 miles per gallon city and 30 highway on premium fuel.

For starters, here we are with the Toshiba LT170 tablet, where this particular tablet does not boast of any high end specifications that make it drool worthy, in fact, it more or less deserves to be in the mid-range to entry level pile, and yet Toshiba has decided to slap a €299 (that ought to translate to around $400 after conversion) price tag on it – which would certainly allow you to pick up something with a higher premium in the open market.

People are having trouble charging their new iPads, do you?

Folks around the internet are reporting that the new iPad's battery isn't charging when it's pushed to its hardware limit. The culprit. Could be the giant freaking battery Apple shoved down the iPad's pants. There are multiple threads on the official Apple forums and at MacRumors talking about the issue. It seems that the iPad just isn't charging with its 10W charger or in some supposedly-supported USB 2.0 ports. But why?

The issue stands up to basic common sense: If the new iPad has the same battery life as the older models, but needs a 70 percent larger battery to achieve that, it's got to suck more juice.

Nissan took the new DeltaWing racer out for a quick parade lap at Sebring last week. The funky-looking car wasn't exactly tackling each apex at competition speeds, but the demonstration suggests development is on the right path. Nissan says the design weighs half as much as a typical competition vehicle and has half the aerodynamic drag as well, making it far more efficient. Likewise, the car requires less power to maintain the same level of performance (Nissan has fitted the DeltaWing with a turbocharged, direct-injection 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine).
