Cryptex vaults to make gift-giving more fun - for you!

Cryptex vaults to make gift-giving more fun - for you!

Remember the cryptex from The Da Vinci Code book and movies – the small, but complicated vault that would destroy the contents unless opened with the proper code.  A company called 4Thought Products is offering two cryptex-like enclosures to make your friends work for their gifts.  The Vino Vault Wine Cryptex fits over a wine bottle and delays gratification until the recipient breaks the five-letter code that opens the lock.  The Puzzle Pod Cryptex holds money or a small gift inside a clear enclosure that's just out of reach until the five-letter code is entered.

Honda reveals next-gen Fit Hybrid

Honda reveals next-gen Fit Hybrid

Psst. Remember late last month when we showed you those Japanese magazine scans purporting to show the next Honda Fit. The ones with the markedly more aggressive snout and Cuisinart-blade alloys. Yup, they were the real deal, but they weren't the standard model, they were images of the new Hybrid. We know this because Honda has just released a handful of images and some details on its forthcoming gas-electric hatchback, and the images line up perfectly.

The big story for the third-generation Fit Hybrid will be the fuel economy, naturally.

Pac-Man Dash! now available on Google Play - The Pac is back in a high-speed action runner

The Pac is back and he's received a fresh new makeover for 2013. It was back during last month's E3 we ran into Namco Bandai's huge outdoor booth where a plethora of cute girls were showing off “Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures,” coming soon to consoles. This is a title based off a Disney XD show of the same name and today, the Pac-Man from that same universe has arrived on Android devices. Pac-Man Dash! — now available on Google Play — is more of a spin-off than a reboot, but one things for certain: this isn't your grandma's Pac-Man.

HTC One Mini Hits The FCC

HTC One Mini Hits The FCC

I know that all of the major media outlets, us included, have already gotten hold of the HTC One mini, where you read our hands-on review here to get a better idea of what you are getting into if you decide to jive with this particular handset. Still, it is well on track to hit the US, since we have seen the HTC One mini arrive at the FCC, impeccable timing as it is. The FCC got a look at the global version of the HTC One mini (model number PO58200), and it is just a matter of time before the handset is released officially – hopefully sooner rather than later, of course, since all the formalities are more or less tied up.

Huawei Wants Criticisers To Put Up Evidence Or "Shut Up"

Huawei, a Chinese company, is one of the largest manufacturers of networking equipment in the world. Its equipment is used in a number of countries around the world, Huawei's technology is also providing 4G LTE at Mount Everest. Nevertheless the company has been subject to quite a lot of criticism, particularly in the UK and U.S. It is widely believed that Huawei is likely to assist state sponsored hacking attempts from China against the West.

2013 Nissan Pathfinder: June 2013

When we say that our long-term 2013 Nissan Pathfinder has been busy, we mean it. Want proof. In the past month, the big, brown Nissan was only idle enough for us to take it in for its 11,500-mile routine service and to shoot a couple of new photos of the long-termer in Detroit. For starters, when you're transporting three kids on a long journey, the dual rear-seat entertainment system is a nice thing to have.

Subaru parent company celebrates 60th birthday

Subaru parent company celebrates 60th birthday

Fuji Heavy Industries, parent company of Subaru, celebrated its 60th anniversary on June 15. And while the company is largely known in the automotive world for its innovative all-wheel-drive cars, its history stretches far back before the days of symmetrical all-wheel drive, World Rally Blue and gold wheels. FHI was founded, much like Germany's BMW, as an aircraft company. It went through a series of names before settling on its current title in 1953. And while its aerial successes were never quite as famous as Mitsubishi and its Zero, FHI did fly Japan's first jet-powered trainer.

Another Motorola Droid Ultra Press Rendering Leaked

Earlier this month thanks to a leaked press rendering by @evleaks, we caught a glimpse of the upcoming Motorola Droid Ultra smartphone that is expected to be announced by Verizon come 23rd of July. Now thanks to a new post by @evleaks, we are looking at yet another press rendering of the Motorola Droid Ultra, except that this time the device is pictured in a rather striking red, and more or less confirming that this is what the device looks like. The red version of the Droid Ultra is apparently one of the three colors the phone will be available in, with the black version sighted a while back, along with a white version as well.

Philips Xenium W8510 4.7″ Android phone promises 35 days of standby, 14 hours of Web browsing time

The main problem with smartphones nowadays is battery life. Sure, quad-core or octa-core CPUs, loads of RAM, fat internal disks are all nice – but at the end of the day, does your phone actually last until the end of the day. If not, then you've got a battery life problem, like so many out there. This could easily be remedied by phone makers by putting bigger batteries inside their devices, but that doesn't always happen – and the excuses are many.

LG sets 10 million units sales goal for its G2 flagship

LG has very high hopes for its upcoming G2 flagship, and they are not afraid to communicate them internally. According to ETNews, the management set a 10 million unit sales goal for LG G2, which is double of what any previous LG smartphone was able to achieve. (Previously the highest selling LG smartphones were the low-end Optimus L Series, with 5 million units sold worldwide).
LG badly missed the industry switch to Android back in 2010. It took them 2 years of trying before they were able to get back on track.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70 Superzoom Camera Announced

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70 Superzoom Camera Announced

Panasonic has just announced their Lumix DMC-FZ70, which is a 16-megapixel shooter that does more than just capture great looking photos – its main selling point would be a 60x optical zoom lens that would make it the longest that one would have ever seen in the market where a fixed-lens camera is concerned, and you can also say that this is longer compared to majority of the other full-sized camcorders out there, too. After all, camcorders tend to have longer zoom lenses than cameras, but with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70, the digital camera is an exception to the rule.

VW Phaeton coming back to US, could be revealed in Detroit

Since its ignominious departure from the US car market in 2006, there have been any number of on-again/off-again rumors about the Volkswagen Phaeton returning to our shores. With that said, VW's aggressive goals in terms of worldwide sales dominance would seem to countenance all manner of new product; taking a second stab at a halo-luxury car for the US, included. At least that's the gist of a new report from Bloomberg, which dangles the idea of a new Phaeton potentially being "shown to US consumers in January," or just in time for the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

New Google Maps Web App Now Available To All

Google Maps released some big updates for both its Android and iOS applications recently, but today, Google Maps' web application has received its new interface which the company revealed just a few months ago without needing to be invited into the new Google Maps. Google confirmed the wider availability of the new Google Maps web application through the service's official Twitter account saying users will simply sign up to be given instant access. It looks as though Google has yet to officially roll out the new version of Google Maps as when accessing it will redirect you to a preview page for the updated service.

New iPhone 5S might have a 4.3 inch display, launch reportedly delayed

Although we are all expecting Apple's next-generation iPhone to sport a 4 inch display - just like the iPhone 5 - this may not be the case. Bloomberg is citing Chinese newspaper Commercial Times, saying that Apple has changed the design of iPhone 5S "to feature a bigger 4.3-inch retina display." Reportedly, this means the new iPhone will not be released in September or October, as widely anticipated, but a bit later in the fourth quarter of the year.

New Google Play Store redesign hints at Google Glass support

Ever since Google Glass launched (be sure to read our Google Glass review), Google has resorted to using a separate service for getting apps which are compatible with the device. Glass Explorers would simply sign into a site that they can use to browse and activate new Glass apps. Considering Google Glass is based on Android, some are wondering why Google hasn't been using the Google Play Store to distribute these apps. Well, it looks like support might finally be on the way.

Following yesterday's specs leak of the upcoming Sony Honami, another image has popped up showing off the new camera interface of the anticipated nextSony flagship. Now the 20MP sensor and the redone camera interface aren't exactly news - the latter is even available for current Xperia flagships via a leaked ROM, but it's the first we see it running on the actual phone. The above image also reveals that Sony has been hard at work trying to match the smartphone camera offerings by competing manufacturers like Samsung, and, more recently, Nokia.

Okay, so yesterday's tour of an Arizona carwash wasn't the most exciting place we've visited through Google Street View, but today they've completely redeemed themselves. There's a good chance I'll never live to see the Eiffel Tower in my lifetime, so I find it truly amazing that with just a few clicks, I can take a 360 degree virtual tour of the monument thanks to the power of Google Maps Street View, and the Google Cultural Institute.
