Big Cheese: Kraft pushing for 97,000-pound 'bridge wrecker' trucks

Kraft Foods wants to bring you more Velveeta, more efficiently. According to Bloomberg, the food giant says it needs to pack its 97,000-pound trucks full of processed deliciousness in order to combat high diesel prices. Problem is, interstate highways have an 80,000-pound weight limit. But Kraft (along with other big corporations like Home Depot, MillerCoors, and Archer-Daniels-Midland) thinks it can get the law changed.

Porting Siri to iPhone 4 now legal following iOS 5.0.1 update

. IPhone 4 owners looking to take advantage of Apple's Siri software from the iPhone 4S now have one less barrier standing in their way. Sure, plenty of tricks have been available in the past that allow users to hack Siri onto an iPhone 4, but until now they were illegal. Apple's recent iOS 5.0.1 update, however, has a decrypted ramdisk, which means users can legally port files to the iPhone 4 that were previously encrypted and protected by Apple's public distribution policies.

Hezbollah financing terrorism by selling used cars, allege federal prosecutors

Terrorism isn't cheap. Like any organization, these groups have payroll, supplies and other overhead to take into account. Terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and Hezbollah have their own network of international investments, drug trafficking and illicit financial channels, and the latest evidence suggests that includes selling used cars. The story comes into focus through a legal complaint filed by U.S. government officials.

KBB names its most-researched vehicles of 2011

Chances are you've visited KBB.com to do some research if you're in the market for a new vehicle, which is why the site's list of this year's most researched new vehicles and brands is probably a good representation of what the public at large is really interested in. KBB calls it "share of market interest," which is defined as the percent of new car shopper activity for a particular brand or model. This year, Toyota captured the largest share of market interest among brands with 14.2 percent, followed by Ford (13.5 percent), Honda (12.8 percent), Chevrolet (11.5 percent) and Hyundai (7.5 percent).

Well the good news is if those speakers managed to catch your attention back then, they are available for purchase now for $549.99 from Klipsch's website. The speaker system was unveiled during CES earlier this year and is now available for purchase almost a year later, but we guess better late than never, right.

Sony backtracks (again), multiple accounts not supported on PS Vita

First, we we're told multiple user accounts were a no-go, then this was withdrawn. Now, it seems that's now been retracted. According to an email send by a Sony representative to Wired, the PSN account on the PlayStation Vita is "tied to the hardware and the memory card" and a simple removable storage switch-out won't suffice. You'll need to hit the big red factory reset button in order to use a different account on Sony's online network, the doorway to both online gaming and their digital store.

About a week ago, we traveled to the desert to spend two days with Ron Wayne. The 77-year-old Pahrump, Nevada resident has had a number of careers in his long life, working for Atari, a few slot machine companies, developing devices for use on the ocean floor and running a collectables shop in Northern California. In his semi-retired state, Wayne sells stamps and coins to supplement his checks from the government. He's no doubt best known, however, for his role in the founding of the Apple Computer company, alongside Steves Jobs and Wozniak, a role at which he spent a little more than a week.

Man illuminates electromagnetic waves using coffee cans and LEDs, Christmas-colored science ensues

Electromagnetic radiation is all around us, but we're largely unaware that our bodies are constantly bathed in waves of the stuff because our eyes aren't equipped to see it. Dr. Gregory Chavat decided to give us a glimpse of an EM waveform, however, by using a coffee can radar system, a couple of LEDs, and long-exposure photography. The setup consisted of a radar emitter made out of one coffee can and a second can with a couple of LEDs attached to serve as a tethered receiver antenna. Those LEDs were then set to that light up red or green to illuminate the EM wave peaks and valleys.

Toro Rosso ditches its drivers for fresh talent in 2012

Many eyebrows were raised when Red Bull jumped from sponsoring existing F1 teams to buying its own 2005, but then the energy-drink giant surprised the pundits again by buying an unprecedented second team in 2006. So why'd they do it. To give the aspiring talents, which the outfit nurtures through its extensive young driver development program, a leg up into the pinnacle of motorsport. That's what has prompted Scuderia Toro Rosso to change its drivers from time to time, but it usually does so one driver at a time.

Dell Quits Netbooks For Ultrabooks

Dell will continue to sell its convertible Inspiron Duo, but all regular netbooks are finished. My mother bought a netbook recently, ignoring my pleading advice to instead get an iPad. Maybe she likes updating antivirus definitions, or perhaps she is looking forward to buying a new one when this one dies exactly a day outside its warranty period. One thing's for sure, though: When she buys another one, it won't be a Dell.

Dell is getting out of the race-to-the-bottom that is the netbook market, and will instead concentrate on thinner, ultrabook-ish laptops.

4 Out Of 5 Bearded Lizards Agree – Eating Bugs On Android Is More Fun Than Real Life [Video]

There’s a viral video making its way around the internets and in case you haven’t seen it (you really need to), I figured I’d squeeze it in with my nightly posts here. The video shows an adorable little bearded dragon who has decided that bugs just taste better when on Android. Okay, so the tiny lizard has no idea he just got the high score on Ant Smasher or even that he’s gaming on a Desire HD. He just wants those tasty little virtual bugs crawling across the screen. And he’s gotten quite good at it too.

Colorado gets its own physical App Store

App stores hold thousands upon thousands of applications, so it's not surprising that it's sometimes hard to find what you want, or even discover new applications in the sea of software. A new app store is aiming to make app discovery much easier, though. The only difference is that this is a real brick-and-mortar app store. Openspace is a new start up that wants to make the whole app shopping experience an easier and less confusing activity.

Apple's market share fell however, from 63.3% during the second quarter to 61.5%.

This is the latest fruit to be borne from LG and Prada's renewed creative partnership. It's Prada Phone by LG 3.0 and it's also an attempt to marry fashion pedigree with, if not leading technological specifications, then at least competitive ones. There's a respectable 8 megapixel autofocus camera, and LG's bright, outdoor-friendly 4.3-inch NOVA display, here projecting an 800 x 480 WVGA touchscreen. It wears its Prada branding on its sleeve, and the fashion label's creative input has even gone so far as to affect the Android OS, with understated black and white themes papered over the cheerful - in comparison - Gingerbread interface.

These are American senior citizens' favorite cars

These are American senior citizens' favorite cars

The stereotype of elderly drivers preferring Lincolns and Buicks has to come from somewhere. TrueCar.com took a look at the past two years of car sales to buyers at least 65 years old and found a couple common threads. The first thing these buyers are looking for is familiarity. The nameplates and vehicle types that were popular when these buyers were younger rank high with senior buyers, kind of the same way people's musical preferences get frozen in time.
Value is also a big attractor for the senior dollar, a consideration for buyers nearing the end of their careers or already on fixed incomes.

Santa Clara's chips may power 80 percent of the world's desktops and laptops, but in the mobile space the energy efficient ARM (and its multiple licensees) is king.

Optical computing could benefit from new 'whispering gallery' fiber

It's a spooky feature of Grand Central Station that if you whisper something against the wall, your voice can resonate around the perimeter of the building and sneak up on you from behind. The same 'whispering gallery' principle is crucial to next-gen optical computing: light signals have to be sent on extremely circuitous journeys through 'microresonators', which temporarily bottle up the beams and thereby serve as memory. So far, microresonators have generally been made from silicon wafers etched with the a long series of loops.

Long considered one of the most beautiful designs mired by a substandard chassis, the Brera went out of production over a year ago. But to give it one last swan song, Romeo Ferraris has teamed up with venerable Alfa tuning firm Autodelta.

Hipstamatic unveils D-series photo sharing app

The other day we reported that Hipstamatic was set to launch a new photography app for iOS devices, and it turns out that the new app is called the D-series, with the D standing for "disposable". Basically the idea here is for you and a bunch of your friends to take photos via the D-series app and then compiling all those photos into a photo album that can be shared across various social networks. Each photographer will be able to shoot up to 24 photos per "camera roll", at the end of which the photos are then compiled into an album to be shared.

Case in point, Google Translate used to receive input through the typewritten word, but things are slightly different now with a small little update that brings about an unprecedented functionality – that is, Google Translate is now able to recognize written words in seven different languages.

Just like most devices that have been given a new white coat of paint, the white version of the Motorola Droid RAZR will remain the same internally, which is a good thing.

Infiniti to sign off on hatchback model's design in January

Infiniti is hard at work engineering a luxury hatchback for 2014, and it appears that the Japanese automaker is close to picking a final design. Dutch site Autoweek.nl reports that there are three designs on the table, and one will be chosen in January. That likely means that we won't see the production hatch any time soon, but a fall showing in Paris or Los Angeles is a possibility. The January time frame doesn't leave a lot of time for engineering Etherea-based hatch, but keep in mind that the compact Infiniti will be based on the front-drive Mercedes-Benz A-Class platform.

Piracy is a major problem in video games world and the industry has tried so many ways to curb this activity. The most common method is through CD keys or DRM which unfortunately, got hacked too easily and quite a hassle for many of legit users. Some of the developers approached it in a different way though like Croteam who actually put their damn anti-piracy mechanism right into pirated version of Serious Sam 3 by making one of the enemies immortal. Hence, gamers that played this version of the game will not be able to finish it as the wicked scorpion-like creature will keep on haunting them down to the last health.

Apple may be tweaking policies in effort to attract advertisers to iAd

. Apple may be implementing a number of changes to its iAd mobile advertising platform in an effort to attract more advertisers and to compete more aggressively against Google's advertising solutions. The Cupertino-based company originally required that advertisers spend a minimum of $1 million on its iAd platform but then halved that figure to $500,000. Now, The Wall Street Journal said Apple is beginning to woo marketers by allowing them to spend as little as $400,000 on an iAd campaign. Read on for more.

Apple is rethinking how its pricing structure works, too.
