Samsung SIM-locking its droids made after July to home regions

Update: Samsung's official Swiss Facebook account has stepped in with some information regarding the locking issue. According to the official source, a European SIM-locked Galaxy Note 3 could be used outside of Europe (thus become unlocked) as long as you activate it with a European SIM card first. Nothing to see here then - move along people. Samsung has started locking its Android smartphones, built after the end of July 2013, to their respective home continents.

Take a look at the fastest Citroën ID19 (read: DS) you'll probably ever see: a 1964 model with a Chevrolet LS1 V8 swap that produces over 400 horsepower - a most unusual eBay find of the day. What's more is that this particular hot rod Citroën has been driven by rockstar Alice Cooper, who will apparently provide an autographed guitar and tour photo to the auction winner, along with two tickets to his Christmas Pudding show and the opportunity to play a round of golf with him in Arizona.

Motor Trend hits Laguna Seca with Ferrari F12, Chevy Corvette, Porsche 911

According to the crew at Motor Trend, we should think of the video above "as an addendum to Best Driver's Car," a test the magazine put together that elevated the 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S above all others in the category of driving joy. It seems the brand-new 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray wasn't able to take part in the magazine's official test, and neither was the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. And so Motor Trend did the only logical thing: It procured both the 'Vette and Prancing Horse as soon as it could, and put them both on track with the Driver's Car-winning 911.

GM's Akerson says female CEO at Detroit automaker 'inevitable'

Running a Detroit auto company won't be a good ol' boys club forever, at least according to the Chairman of General Motors, Dan Akerson. Speaking at the 2013 Michigan Automotive Summit this week, Akerson said that a female CEO was "inevitable," with some sources suggesting the comment may have been a reference to Mary Barra, GM's Senior Vice President of Global Product Development, one of the executives tipped to be in the running to succeed Akerson when he retires. "You'll have more women in boardrooms and more women in senior management 10 years from now, at least I hope so," the Chairman said.

Grey imports can be useful at times for customers who either don't want to wait for a particular product to arrive in their market, or if the product is not even offered in their market to begin with, or sometimes it could merely be the difference in hardware that would make it enticing to import it from another country. An example would the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which comes in Qualcomm or Exynos options, depending on which region you are in, but it seems that if you were planning on getting your Galaxy Note 3 from a country not within your region, i.e.

T-Mobile will no longer offer BlackBerry 10 devices in stores

T-Mobile US confirmed that it will no longer stock BlackBerry smartphones in its retail stores. Going forward, customers who wish to purchase a handset from the Canadian company will have it shipped to them instead. T-Mobile has taken the measure because of drastically slowing BlackBerry sales. According to David Carrey, T-MobileÂ's executive vice president for corporate sales, Â"keeping stock in the retail distribution system was inefficient.Â"

BlackBerry smartphones will still be on display in T-Mobile stores.

Verizon Teases New Motorola Tablet

Verizon Teases New Motorola Tablet

It appears that Verizon may soon be launching a new Motorola tablet that we haven't heard that much about. The carrier operates a Twitter account called Droid Landing. The account is used to tease all of the new and upcoming Droid devices on Verizon. The account has been tweeting and promoting a contest for the past few days and also create hype around a mystery device. There's ample evidence to form a belief that the device is going to be a Droid, but since nothing is confirmed as yet, its wise to take this with a grain of salt.

Not much is known about this tablet at this point in time.

The “cards” user interface can easily be found in a number of mobile apps that Google has developed for its various services. Latest service to receive this treatment is Gmail. An update is being rolled out today which brings a ”cleaner conversation view.” There are a number of design tweaks as well. This is purely a cosmetic change, the update isn't a major one by any standard and does not bring any big new features.

A number of major apps were immediately updated, including Facebook. A few days down the road, Instagram for iOS 7 has been released. The team behind it has rebuilt the look and feel of Instagram to focus on clarity, which is what iOS 7 is focused on with its “flat” user interface. The size of photos and videos in the feed has been increased. What this means is that content will now expand to fit the edges of the screen.

Apple became a huge company under Jobs' guidance, which is why his childhood home in Los Altos, California is being considered to become a historical site. The seven-member Los Altos Historical Commission has scheduled a “historic property evaluation” to take place on Monday for Jobs' ranch-style childhood home.

BlackBerry hasn't had a great run in the recent times and the company has been losing ground rather quickly. The last few quarters have been rough for the once dominant Canadian tech company, and depleting market share has resulted in its Board of Directors deciding to sell the company. Ever since then, the company's board has been pushing for a quick sale before the end of the year, and it looks like the firm has struck a deal with a consortium led by Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.

Customers In India Not Fazed By Microsoft-Nokia Deal

With Microsoft about to acquire Nokia, we're sure there are some customers who might not be too happy about it. After all there have been talks about how the Nokia brand (at least as far as cellphones are concerned) would be removed and everything would be Microsoft-branded. Given Nokia's long history in the mobile phone industry, undoubtedly many would be sad to see the brand go. However it looks like the impact of the acquisition is not as big as some would have thought, and when several huge retailers in India were interviewed about potential backlash from customers, it seems that there wasn't much.

Bentley CEO says Mulsanne Convertible isn't going to happen

Bentley and Rolls-Royce may be as direct as competitors get, but that doesn't mean they go head-to-head on every model. Bentley is arguably more focused on its Continental line, with the pricier Mulsanne branching off of it. Rolls-Royce, meanwhile, only recently expanded (relatively) down-market with the Wraith and the Ghost on which it's based. For Rolls, it's long been about the Phantom and its coupe and convertible variants.

At any sporting event, there's no shortage of know-it-all buffoons. What there is a shortage of, is know-it-all buffoons that happen to be birds. In anticipation of this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix, Pole Position traveled to the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore, to get the not-so-professional opinion of Ippy, the talking scarlet macaw. Despite Ippy probably having no clue as to what a Formula One car or race is, his predictions are solid ones. As only a portion of the field - front runners, mainly - were available for Ippy to pick, though, it's difficult to gauge his predictive ability.
