Windows 8 'Complaints App Done Away With

Windows 8 'Complaints App Done Away With

It was not too long ago (a matter of weeks, in fact) that there was a new and free Windows 8 app which was given the nod of approval by the folks over at Microsoft to publish it on the Windows Store. This app was known as the Windows 8 Complaints app, where its main purpose of existence was to enable folks to write and share their concerns and problems that they have run into with Microsoft's most recent operating system for the PC platform. Basically, it will allow you to post your complaints and read/listen to the complaints of others. It seems that the Windows 8 Complaints app is no more, as it cannot be downloaded from the Windows Store.

LG Devices Awarded CarbonFree Certification

LG Devices Awarded CarbonFree Certification

LG is glad to announce that half a dozen of their products have been awarded CarbonFree certification, which is serious proof that the South Korean company has been working hard to reduce its carbon footprint. Some of the devices that received CarbonFree certification will include the Optimus G smartphone, OLED TV, washing machine, refrigerator, vacuum cleaner and computer monitor. Just how did these products receive such a certification. This occurred after it has been subjected to a comprehensive lifecycle analysis in order to determine the carbon footprint in the entire length of its manufacturing process.

Bug Discovered In Snapchat And Poke App That Doesn't Actually Delete Videos

For those unfamiliar, Snapchat is an app for iOS and Android that lets users send each other text messages, pictures and videos, and while it seems like an ordinary instant messaging app, the twist is that you can set the duration of how long a video or photo sent will exist before being deleted. This is a great way to share photos or videos which you might only want to share in the moment and don't want to leave a trace at the end of the day, however that might not be the case as according to Buzzfeed, they have discovered a bug within the iOS version of Snapchat that allows a user to access supposedly deleted photos or videos.

Apple To Pay $165K In Chinese Copyright Dispute

Apple To Pay $165K In Chinese Copyright Dispute

It was yesterday that a Chinese court ruled against Apple, asking them to fork out 1.03 million yuan (when converted, it would equal to $165,000 thereabouts) to a group of writers who put in claims that their work was pirated, and subsequently sold through the App Store. A judge from Beijing's Second Intermediate People's Court, after looking through the facts and figures of the case, held Apple liable for the sale of unlicensed works by eight local writers, where these works were then repurposed as apps and distributed via the App Store.

The Right-Sized Truck Shows Its Age. Sometime during the mid '90s, the Big Three stepped up the fullsize truck arms race in a serious way. While Chrysler, Ford and General Motors had always fought tooth and nail for every last possible customer, suddenly trucks began evolving into more than just utilitarian work horses. While the old payload and towing one-upmanship continued in earnest, pickup design began swelling with broad grilles, massive wheels and flanks to match.

Samsung Slaps Ericsson With Its Own Request For U.S. Sales & Import Ban

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Following Ericsson's decision to file a lawsuit against Samsung in November, which eventually resulted to a request to ban U.S. import on some products, the South Korean technology giant is now suing back the former. Samsung said on Wednesday that it has filed a complaint to the International Trade Commission accusing Ericsson of breaching seven of its patents. Samsung is also requesting a U.S. sales and import ban on a few of the Swedish company's products.

In a statement, Samsung says, “We have sought to negotiate with Ericsson in good faith.

Google Testing “Quick View” On Mobile Search Results

Google appears to be testing a new feature on mobile search results. The yet to be announced feature is called “Quick View” and it basically allows users to open up a page from the main website easily and much faster. A Google+ user named Wissam Dandan was the first to spot the feature. He noticed a “Quick View” button beside a Wikipedia search result on Google when he typed the word “SEO” on his iPhone 5. .
On Google+, Dandan writes [emphasis added], “A neat option I am seeing in mobile search. For Wikipedia pages only.

Petrolicioius follows one Peugeot through the circle of life

In 1939, Vensio Pagani's father packed his family up and fled war-torn Italy for France, leaving everything behind in the process. The family home, friends and even his father's prize Peugeot convertible were all abandoned in the hope that the Paganis could find a safer future for themselves. Vensio cultivated a passion for restoring period vehicles over the intervening 70 years, and happened to spot a vintage Peugeot just like his father's at a swap meet.

The BTPS adds a tire pressure sensor to your bicycle

The BTPS adds a tire pressure sensor to your bicycle

Cars nowadays come with TPMS sensors which basically let you know when you have a flat tire by monitoring your tire's pressure. However the same cannot be said for bicycles, at least until now when a Kickstarter project has been launched called the BTPS - Bike Tire Pressure System, in which its creators are hoping to bring to bicycles what car drivers have been enjoying for the past few years. However since bicycles do not come with built-in dashboards or heads up displays, how the BTPS works is that it will relay the information to your smartphone via an app and will accurately read the pressure of your tires between 0 and 174psi.

New Vancouver bridge closed because design causes 'ice bombs' to rain down on cars (video)

New Vancouver bridge closed because design causes 'ice bombs' to rain down on cars (video)

Spanning 10 lanes of traffic, the Port Mann Bridge (shown in the rendering above) just outside of Vancouver, Canada is currently the widest bridge in the world. Unfortunately, it might also hold a new record for the shortest period of time a new bridge has remained open. The cable-stayed bridge just opened to full traffic earlier this month, but on Wednesday it was shut down due to massive chunks of ice falling from the cables and striking vehicles, which sent at least two people to the hospital.
