Nokia Lumia 925 Review

Nokia Lumia 925 Review

Nokia announced its Lumia 925 this past May as the first device in their stable of smartphones to feature a new metal-band design, which is certainly a departure from rumors circulating earlier this year saying the device would be a completely aluminum smartphone, for example, like the HTC One. The device features a 4.5-inch AMOLED display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 16GB of internal storage and an 8.7MP PureView camera. Since Nokia's announcement, we've gone hands-on with the Lumia 925 and soon after, it launched on T-Mobile with a release on AT&T expected to take place on September 13.

Toyota readying TMG performance sub-brand?

Toyota readying TMG performance sub-brand?

It has been said before, but this time we hope we're joining Toyota in saying it again: the brand should build proper performance cars like it did over a decade ago. Apparently, at least one person at the Japanese automaker agrees. Auto Express recently spoke with Toyota Europe Executive Vice President Karl Schlicht, who said:. "We are currently discussing sport lines for Toyota models. There is an appetite for Toyota to do credible performance cars."

We're not sure, but let's assume Toyota rules out another established sub-brand to produce performance cars, Toyota Racing Development.

Volvo readying stretched next-gen S80 in lieu of 7 Series rival?

Volvo readying stretched next-gen S80 in lieu of 7 Series rival?

The debate about what direction to take perennially struggling Volvo has been raging for years. Should the Swedish marque go upscale and try to chase other European luxury brands, or should it stick to its safety-minded knitting. Should it adopt flashy new styling and a more overt performance bent, or keep it Scandinavian clean and responsible. Chinese parent brand Geely apparently has designs on making Volvo a full-fledged BMW rival – particularly in its homeland – including pushing for a range-topping 7 Series competitor. However, Volvo execs have been repeatedly pushing back on the idea.

Gold iPhone 5S Will Soon Get The Gold Lightning Cable It Deserves

Gold iPhone 5S Will Soon Get The Gold Lightning Cable It Deserves

We've been hearing about the gold iPhone 5S for several months prior to its official unveiling this past week. Numerous leaks pretty much confirmed a gold iPhone would be made available, and that's exactly what happened. Considering how long Apple probably knew about not only its gold iPhone 5S, but the multitude of colors that would be available with the iPhone 5C, we're surprised they didn't also announce new accessories that would match the color of your iPhone would also be released. If you're a future owner of a gold iPhone 5S, then you'll want to have a matching Lightning cable to show off just how much you love gold.

Apple iPhone 5s to cost more than its predecessor in Europe

Apple iPhone 5s to cost more than its predecessor in Europe

Apple finally announced its next-generation iPhone along with the iPhone 5c at yesterday's event. Back at the event, the Cupertino guys announced the subsidized pricing of its newest smartphones in the United States, but didn't say anything about unlocked pricing for other regions. Well, the pricing details of the iPhone 5s for the European market are no longer a mystery, as the prices have appeared in the official Apple stores around the old continent.
The 16GB model of the iPhone 5s will be up for grabs for £549, while the 32GB variant costs you £629 and the 64GB version is priced at £709.

Indoor Dog Toilet Promises An Odor-Free Home

Indoor Dog Toilet Promises An Odor-Free Home

If there is one huge advantage that a robotic dog like the Sony Aibo of yore has over actual dogs, it would be this – they do not bark at strangers, won't run around as they please, and most importantly, there is no poop at all to pick up after. Of course, those cons are not enough to substitute for the presence of an actual pet dog, this I am sure. For those of you out there who happen to own a pooch but live in an extremely cramped apartment, then sending your pooch for its potty time could be a tedious affair.

Alleged New HTC One Max Photos Spotted

It goes without saying that the closer a particular device is to being released in the market, the higher the chance of it being leaked out. As to whether the leak was done on purpose or otherwise, it remains to be seen. Having said that, we are not surprised to see just another bunch of HTC One Max photos running around in the wild, although this time around, it will not be all alone. The alleged HTC One Max seems to be compared to the HTC One, but there is also the rumor of a fingerprint scanner located on the back, right under the rear camera.

Abarth 595 50th Anniversary Edition is a birthday present worth waiting for (video)

Props must be paid to the people at Abarth, who could've celebrated the 50th anniversary of the 595 – the model that put this performance brand on the map back in the 1960s – with a special edition appearance package and called it a day. But no, that's not how Abarth does things. Instead, it is producing 299 units of this 595 50th Anniversary Edition model that debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week, and it's received much more than a new suit for its big 5-0 celebration.

Peugeot 308 R Concept does that super-hot hatch thing

Peugeot 308 R Concept does that super-hot hatch thing

Peugeot showed a hot, concept version of its new 308 at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The C-segment offering that does battle with the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf in Europe, is called the 308 R Concept. It's basically all the good stuff about the RCZ R - 270 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque from a 1.6-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine - with a more family friendly body on top. A six-speed manual is on hand to distribute the thrust to what we imagine are a pair of overtaxed front tires.
That's not really news, though. With the 308 R Concept, it's the aesthetics that matter.

When it comes to European auto shows, your intrepid Autoblog coverage staff is always keen to see what the French have to offer. That's because Gallic companies let their designers off the leash more often than the rest of their global counterparts, freeing them to produce the sort of moonshot, future-think concept cars that we used to associate with the US and Japan. Even when their showcars are seemingly more rational and production-minded – as is the case with the Renault Initiale Paris concept shown here – they still employ fantastical details.

Ecurie Ecosse vintage racing stable up for auction

Ecurie Ecosse vintage racing stable up for auction

Scotland may not be the first country that comes to mind when you think of motor racing, but maybe it should be. Dario Franchitti, Jackie Stewart and Allan McNish - all of them three-time champions in their respective disciplines - hail from Scotland. But back in the 1950s and '60s, Ecurie Ecosse represented the country well in sportscar racing. The team ran a variety of cars – most notable among them the Jaguar D-Type – in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, wearing the dark blue and white of the Scottish flag in what became an iconic livery. Ecurie Ecosse won at Le Mans twice in a row in 1956 and '57, the latter in a one-two finish.

Sony Xperia Z1 Mini allegedly pictured in the wild, could it be a shop job?

Before the Sony Xperia Z1 was officially unveiled last week during IFA 2013, the device was the subject of numerous leaks and rumors, most of which turned out to be accurate. You might recall that in many of these rumors was mention of a smaller, more easily palmable version of the Z1, dubbed the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini. According to rumors, the Xperia Z1 Mini is supposed to share many of the same hardware specs as the larger Z1 — Snapdragon 800 processor, 20.1MP camera, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage — the only differences being a 4.3-inch 720p display, and slightly smaller 2,400mAh battery.

Google removes "Play" from the Google Play logo, but what does it all mean?

Okay, so it's not exactly breaking news, but we found it interesting enough to pass the news onto you. Google has just updated the Google Play logo in the Play Store. No longer does it read, “Google Play” but just Google, with the familiar |> (play) logo where it once read “Play”. Make sense.
For those unaware, the triangle shape was supposed to signify the standard play button you commonly find on media controls. It's an interesting play on words, one we feel like might get lost on the millions of users visiting the |> Store everyday.

Apple has finally officially announced the iPhone 5C, the company's first iPhone that departs from the typical “ultra premium” look and feel that they've prided themselves on since the launch of the first one. The device's claim to fame is obviously its ability to be had in a multitude of different colors, with Apple seeding the market with 5 different selections to choose from. The phone obviously reminds us of what Motorola's trying to do with the Moto X, a phone that can be customized with over 2,000 different combinations of colors in the Moto Maker.

In a move to spur sales of the Malibu, Chevrolet apparently is betting against its own Malibu Eco mild-hybrid by improving the base model's fuel efficiency in addition to updating the styling and interior, Automotive News reports. That's right, for 2014 the standard Malibu matches the Eco's 29 miles per gallon (for combined city/highway driving) through the use of stop-start technology and Intake Valve Lift Control on the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, as well as a revamped transmission. In other news, the Eco's highway fuel efficiency fell one mpg to 36.

Ever since the first iPhone was launched back in 2007 till the iPhone 4S in 2011, Apple didn't change the 3.5 inch display size. In 2012 it finally budged, releasing the iPhone 5 with a 4 inch display. A recent report by the WSJ suggested that the company is testing prototypes of a next generation smartphone with displays as large as 6 inches. Even if it is working with different prototype to gauge what screen size works best, Apple probably won't jump any higher than 5 inches, according to famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities.

Breaking down the PS Vita TV: Why Sony's $100 set-top box is more than a consolation prize

Of course, it seems a no-brainer that PS Vita TV will launch in North America and Europe (and elsewhere, for that matter). It's exactly the game console concept that's been rumored for years from the likes of Apple, Google, and Amazon: inexpensive, small, media-capable and ready to run media streaming apps. There's also the convenience of it employing DualShock controllers, a standard known to hardcore and mainstream gamers alike. Sure, it's got some Japan-centric quirks at the moment - Remote Play won't likely see wide use outside of Japan, nor will the Nasne connectivity - but it's otherwise ready for international consumption.

Nokia + Android = Newkia - The Goodness of Nokia With The Mightiness of Android!

The move is apparently  seen to fuel intersests of Nokia's fanatics who wished for Android OS on the Finnish company's hardware – a feat that has only been a wishful fantasy for many, especially after Nokia chose Microsoft's Windows Phone OS over Google's open source Android to resurrect its failing market stance. Even as the new name ‘Newkia' represents a new company and is apparently short for ‘New Nokia', it seemingly inherits Nokia's substantial manpower (think of employees who left Nokia) with common temperament for an Android-powered smartphone with Finnish company's genes of quality build and design.
