Oscar Mayer Wienermobile rally leaves us bunderstruck

Oscar Mayer Wienermobile rally leaves us bunderstruck

In the running for the greatest event tag line of 2013 is this: "Six wieners. One winner." Or how about just Wienermobile Run, which is what Oscar Mayer is putting on with six Wienermobiles crossing the country in search of points and glory. The social media-driven challenge has the teams - Born to Bun, Speedy Wiener, Autobuhn, Hell on Buns, Drift Dog and Bunderstruck – earn points for fulfilling challenges submitted by you and by Oscar Mayer and by getting their photos plastered all over the gossip-verse. The big dog with the most points at the end, wins.

You can join teams and submit photos and, naturally, win things.

6-inch quad-core WP devices coming later this year

6-inch quad-core WP devices coming later this year

Microsoft is building up a huge update to Windows Phone. Dubbed Blue, the General Distribution Release 3 (GDR3), will likely land in 2014 with a notification center, improved multitasking and updated core apps in tow. According to sources Microsoft will be releasing some of the improvements meant for Blue later this year - support for larger screens (5" and 6"), 1080p resolution and quad-core chipsets (likely the Snapdragon 600 and 800 series). So it's likely that we'll see Windows Phone 8 phablets with much improved hardware before the end of the year.

Tizen Tablet Prototype Video

Tizen Tablet Prototype Video

Tizen is not dead yet, and in fact, the recently talked about Tizen App Challenge has put up a $4 million bounty for developers who have been given the responsibility to "redefine the mobile experience". Well, one would say that in a highly competitive arena like the mobile operating system one, to make an appearance without putting any effort at all to do something different like "redefining" the mobile experience would be pretty much suicidal and doomed to fail right from the get go.

Download MIUI v5 for your HTC One

Download MIUI v5 for your HTC One

CyanogenMod might be the biggest ROM there is, but there area a bunch of other great developers out there putting together some great things on Android. One such creation is dubbed MIUI, something I'm sure anyone with Android ROM flashing experience knows a thing or two about. This ROM completely transforms Android, almost to the point where you could mistake it for an entirely different OS. Well, that ROM is coming over to the HTC One in the form of AdyScorpiusMIUIv5 from user AdyScorpius over at XDA. Things seem fairly stable for the most part, though as is the case with any ROM not everything is going to be 100% perfect.

Apple seeds iOS 7 beta 3 to registered developers

Apple has started seeding the third version of the developer preview of iOS 7 to registered developers. If you have it installed on your device, you should have gotten a prompt to update it by now. As usual, there are several minor changes across the board but by far the most noticeable is the change of system fonts. The first two versions of iOS 7 beta used Helvetica Neue Light, which at times was bit hard to read. The latest version changes it to Helvetica Neue Regular, which is a lot more legible.

How To: Quickest way to get to the Google Play store with the HTC One

How To: Quickest way to get to the Google Play store with the HTC One

Most of us like to customize the look of our smartphonesĂ‚ and Android provides various ways of doing so; one could say the possibilities are endless. When I get a new phone like the HTC One or have a review unit, I have to head out to the Google Play Store to find some of my must-have apps, benchmark tools, and widget apps. Most Android phones have the Play Store app shortcut on the home screen when you turn it on for the first time, but if you are like me you want to keep the home screen real estate for more useful and personal apps so you get rid of that shortcut right out of the gate.

Goodwood-bound Caterham R620 to hit 60 mph in under 2.8 sec

Goodwood-bound Caterham R620 to hit 60 mph in under 2.8 sec

With apologies to The Beatles, it was 40 years ago today (well, sort of...) that Caterham taught the Seven to play. The car as you're likely aware, is a direct descendant of the quintessential Lotus of the same name. As befitting an anniversary year, Caterham has decided to up the Seven's ante by plopping a 2.0-liter Ford Duratec into the engine bay, fortified by a supercharger to deliver 310 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox. Weight of the Caterham R620 is not yet known, but considering its estimated 2.8-second run to 60 miles per hour, and historically lightweight nature, it figures to be rather feathery.

Nikon Working On Secret Products, Might Not Be Camera-Related

When you mention the name Nikon, cameras probably come to mind as that is what the company is most well-known for, at least in commercial circles. However is that all Nikon has to offer the public. Just cameras. Well according to Nikon's president, Makoto Kimura, it seems that the Japanese company is currently working on "secret products" that will be hitting the market in under five years' time.

More LG Optimus G2 blurry shots leak ahead of launch

Photos of the upcoming LG Optimus G2 have surfaced and while they are of pretty poor quality they still manage to portray how the company's upcoming flagship looks like. At the front, there's an obvious lack of both capacitive and physical buttons. This leaves on-screen capacitive buttons as the only option, which was confirmed earlier by a couple of leaked screenshots of the Optimus G2 UI.
At the back, there's the main camera coupled with LED on the right side as well as the interesting "+" and "-" buttons. It's believed they are related to the functionality of the camera, but nothing has been even confirmed yet.

Grand Theft Auto 4 Battlefield Mod Looks Novel

Grand Theft Auto 4 Battlefield Mod Looks Novel

Grand Theft Auto 4, much like Skyrim, is no stranger to mods and we have seen some pretty cool mods in the past. However if you're a fan of the Battlefield franchise, then this Battlefield mod might be something worth taking a look at. YouTube user, SgtRedPhoenix, has posted a video of Grand Theft Auto 4 running a Battlefield mod in which you will see some characters from Battlefield 3 make its way into the game. Essentially this is more like a reskinning of the game rather than a full-fledged mod itself, but if you love Battlefield and Grand Theft Auto, be sure to check out the mod in action in the video above.

Facebook users in the US, you might want to look out for a new treat tomorrow – with the introduction of an advanced searched feature which was announced earlier this year, calling it Graph Search. Just what the heck does Facebook's Graph Search do. For starters, this particular tool would enable users to perform more advanced searches than normal. For instance, you can check out something more complex such as “Restaurants in San Francisco that my friends like” or “photos of my friends before 2000″, before being flooded with relevant results.

Realtime restaurant status app means you'll never have to wait in line again

Realtime restaurant status app means you'll never have to wait in line again

This system, developed for restaurant chains, collects restaurant status data in real time, and shows app users which restaurants have seating available. The RealtimeManager software from Science Works' was released in November 2012. Most POS systems collect data when customers are ready to pay their bill, but this system accumulates data as the customers are ordering, allowing the restaurant manager or chain headquarters to provide smartphone users with seating availability information in real time based on the situation.

Official Intel statement denies Tizen's death rumors

Intel has posted a statement regarding the rumor that the Tizen OS, which is co-developed with Samsung, is dying. The rumor came from Eldar Murtazin, whose prediction record seems to have picked up another miss. Obviously, Intel hasn't been all too pleased with such information floating around the web and has posted the following statement, cited by TizenExperts.com.
Intel is very committed to the development of Tizen. We see a unique role for Tizen in the industry to create and to grow a new, open and flexible, mobile operating system that allows developers to "write once/run on many devices".
