Audi replaces Mercedes as official vehicle supplier to the IOC

Audi replaces Mercedes as official vehicle supplier to the IOC

The automotive sponsor of the International Olympic Committee for the past 22 years has been Daimler-Benz. No more, as Audi has just signed a four-year deal to be the official auto supplier to the folks who keep the torch alight and on the move. Audi will supply vehicles for the IOC's headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland and the organization's international events. In case you're remembering all the stories about BMW and the London Olympics last summer and wondering where Mercedes-Benz was in all of that, the answer lies in the numerous mouths at the Olympic trough.

GameStick Temporarily Suspended from Kickstarter

GameStick Temporarily Suspended from Kickstarter

Call it a minor setback for upcoming GameStick Android-based game console. The project was temporarily removed from Kickstarter due to a copyright infringement complaint. PlayJam, the makers of GameStick, sent out a message to its Kickstarter backers informing them about the suspension. The complaint stemmed from the inclusion of a video game in their UI demonstration video and apparently they have no permission to use it. While the demonstration was all about showing off GameStick's design prototype, game companies may not be comfortable with the unsolicited association.

Like Ouya, GameStick is a home gaming console that runs on Android.

Lotus announces race-ready Exige V6 Cup and Cup R

Lotus has pulled off the wraps on two new versions of the Exige: the V6 Cup and the V6 Cup R. Based on the Exige S, the V6 Cup is built to be a dual-purpose street and track machine. The 0-60 dash should take just under 3.8 seconds thanks to a full 345 horsepower from a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine. Weighing in at 2,380 pounds, the V6 Cup should be an absolute riot to drive, and with a full FIA-approved roll cage, fire extinguisher and six-point race harnesses on board, it's plenty safe, too. Two-way adjustable dampers are standard, as are AP Racing four-piston calipers on all four corners.

Original Porsche 959 prototype will be on the block at Barrett-Jackson auction

The Porsche 959 was arguably the finest supercar of its era (1986-1989). Beneath its fiberglass-reinforced Kevlar and aluminum body panels hid some of the world's most advanced automotive technology, including an innovative all-wheel-drive system, a twin-shock suspension offering adjustable ride height and damping, four-channel ABS and run-flat tires. With the power of its rear-mounted twin-turbocharged 2.8-liter flat-six, developing 450 horsepower, the Porsche was capable of hitting 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds and a top speed of nearly 200 mph – performance numbers that are still highly respectable today.

People, especially parents, who passed by the CTA Digital booth at CES 2013 are doing a double-take with this unusual piece of plastic: a potty trainer with an iPad holder in front of it. The toilet-training device, cheekily named iPotty, targets toddlers and young children who needed a bit of distraction while doing the one or two. It comes with a splash protector placed underneath the iPad, a lid that converts iPotty into a seat, and even a pee guard for the boys.

Apple Not Working On A Cheaper iPhone, Says Phil Schiller

Rumors of a cheap iPhone in the works have graced the headlines this week. But according to Phil Schiller, Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, the rumored cheap iPhone model will never be the future of Apple products. Speaking to the Chinese newspaper Shanghai Evening News yesterday, Schiller said that Apple is not working on a cheaper iPhone, one that would grab market share right away. "We are not like other companies, launched multiple products in one breath, then pinning his hopes on a product to get the favor of consumers," said Schiller.

It seems that thanks to an authorized Sony retailer for Poland, it was suggested on the retailer's website that the Xperia Z could be seeing a February 18th release, although unlike UK retailers, the Polish retailer has pegged the phone at รข‚¬680 which is about รข‚¬30 more than the UK version, assuming that either retailer has their prices correct.

FCC Planning To Free Up Additional Wi-Fi Spectrum To Help Relieve Congestion

[CES 2013] In case you couldn't tell by the monster amount of content coming from us this week, CES is currently going on and if you've ever been to it, or any other kind of conference, you know Wi-Fi is a must-have as cell phone service is usually nonexistent as thousands of people converge into one convention center. The problem is, at its current 2.4MHz spectrum, often times Wi-Fi at conferences don't work that great either, leaving you without any form of communication for hours.

Tegra 4 Announced By NVIDIA

Tegra 4 Announced By NVIDIA

[CES 2013] What comes after Tegra 3. Why, the simple answer would be one of the world's worst kept secrets, Tegra 4. Just what kind of processing muscle does the Tegra 4 pack. For starters, there are 72 GPU cores, a quartet of Cortex A15 CPU cores, and a 4G LTE modem, how about that. Smartphones and tablets that intend to pack Tegra 4 underneath the hood, you might just want to beef up on your battery lifespan. Just sayin'.

Tegra 4 will continue to retain the low-power “5th” core that is used for low-power apps such as ebooks and music playback.
