Analyst Believes Apple's iPhone 5c Strategy Will Pay Off In The Long Run

It has been rumored multiple times over the past couple of weeks that Apple is cutting down on iPhone 5c production due to weak demand. The company hasn't officially said anything about demand for its plastic iPhone, but supply chain sources in China believe that the iPhone 5c isn't selling as well as it was expected too. Just yesterday the WSJ weighed in as well, claiming that Foxconn had received directions from Apple to cut down iPhone 5c production by a third, whereas Pegatron was to reportedly cut production was 20 percent.

Samsung Willing To Offer Injunction Relief To Avoid Antitrust Fine

Samsung Willing To Offer Injunction Relief To Avoid Antitrust Fine

Samsung and Apple are currently fighting it out in the courts, with Samsung claiming that Apple has infringed upon their patents and vice versa. Apple claims that they offered Samsung a licensing deal to license some of Samsung's patents, which are standard essential patents, but Samsung has refused Apple's offer, claiming Apple's offer is too low. However now it seems that Samsung has had something of a change of heart and have stated that they are willing to drop all litigations related to mobile standard essential patents if the other party (which is currently Apple) is willing to license a particular framework.

Andretti, Earnhardt Sr. and Hunt racers head 'Legends' auction

RK Motors will be holding an auction in Charlotte, NC from October 31 to November 3, that is sure to get fans of both historic production and racecars really excited. The production metal on offer is wildly impressive, including a pair of Hemi 'Cudas (one of which is an ultra-rare convertible), one of just six Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR Roadsters, a Mercedes-powered Lotec, a 600-horsepower, NASCAR-engined 2010 Camry Coupe and a 1951 Crosley fire truck. Are we the only ones excited about there being a fire truck up for auction.
Old hook-and-ladder trucks aside, the racers that will cross the block are a lot more intriguing.

Maserati orders explode, 22,500 through September

Last year when Maserati revealed a plan to sell 50,000 units globally by 2015, it seemed like a pretty steep goal for an automaker that had sold just 6,300 units for the entire year. It turns out that goal may be a little on the conservative side.

Drayson Racing locks down electric speed records

Drayson Racing locks down electric speed records

Back in June, the team at Drayson Racing took its electric Le Mans prototype to the Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire, England, and set a new land speed record for electric vehicles. The competition-spec EV hit a top speed of 204.185 miles per hour, shattering the previous record that stood at 175 mph since 1974. And yet Lord Drayson and his compatriots weren't satisfied, so they set out for the Bonneville Salt Flats last month to see how much faster they could go. Unfortunately the dried-out lakebed was (ironically) flooded, so the plans were scrapped.

Demand for electric car rentals unplugged by range anxiety

Demand for electric car rentals unplugged by range anxiety

It's the hurdle that electric vehicles must clear to be launched into the mainstream: range anxiety. But this time it isn't prospective customers who worry about running out of juice, Bloomberg reports, but renters who return to car rental agencies before their lease is up and trade their EVs in for more traditional gasoline-powered autos and gas-electric hybrids. "People are very keen to try [electric vehicles], but they will switch out of the contract part way through . they think they can't get to a charging station," says Lee Broughton, head of sustainability at Enterprise.

2014 Ford Fiesta ST

2014 Ford Fiesta ST

I'm not overly inclined to professional jealousy, as a rule. Sure, I go a bit green around the eyes when Ramsey draws the 911 GT3 trip to Weissach, Harley is tapped-in to drive a completely stunning Porsche 911 by Singer, or, you know, Drew Phillips gets to shoot a Lamborghini Veneno in the middle of a desert like some sort of sheik. I hate you guys. Honestly though, one of the new car events that dug me the most, was when our Steven J. Ewing got to fling the Ford Fiesta ST around some hot corner of Europe. What goes around comes around, I suppose, as Mr.

Renault Sport F1 claims new record for pole positions

Renault Sport F1 claims new record for pole positions

Racing is all about winning. But beyond winning, it's about records: which drivers have won the most races, which team has racked up the most titles, which country has produced the most champions, and so on. As far as Formula One constructors go, the lion's share of those titles belong to Ferrari, which has won more grands prix and championships than any other team in the sport. But Renault has just taken away one of its records.

Smartphone market in South Korea expected to decline

Smartphone market in South Korea expected to decline

Strategy Analytics has released a report stating that the South Korean smartphone market is expected to mark a decline in 2013. The reason behind the negative market growth, according to the agency is the smartphone saturation. More specifically, the market is expected to contract by 14 percent compared to 2012. Due to the smartphone market decline, around 26.3 million units will be sold in 2013 compared to 30.7 million last year.

While it's unclear what sales data was used by the report, it does make sense that once smartphones reach a certain level of penetration, their rapid sales growth would stop.
