AT&T asks judge to stay T-Mobile merger court proceedings until January 18th (update: granted)

Just last week, the US Department of Justice indicated its desire to dismiss the lawsuit it filed to stop the union of AT&T and T-Mobile because of Ma Bell's withdrawal of the merger's FCC application. It looks like that's given the telco plenty more issues to ponder, so now it's asking Judge Huvelle to postpone further antitrust court proceedings until January 18. The folks at AT&T need the extra time to "evaluate all options" and "revise our current transaction to achieve the necessary regulatory approvals" for the merger.

Huawei Honor First to Get Ice Cream Sandwich Update

I bet you didn’t see this coming. The Huawei Honor is the first Android smartphone to receive an update to Ice Cream Sandwich. Available now on the handset manufacturer’s website is a “demo-build” of Android 4.0 for all Honor owners to download. It’s a much quicker turnaround process than expected, and beats other manufacturers to market. Not even the Nexus S has received its official update to ICS (not to mention the lack of availability of the Galaxy Nexus in the US). The update is available in Huawei’s native Chinese but also supports all standard languages built in to Android.

Amazon DE to slash prices of the Lumia 800 and Moto RAZR tonight

Amazon Germany is prepping two hot deals tonight for its Cyber Monday Reloaded promo - the Nokia Lumia 800 and Motorola RAZR smartphones. The WP7 and Android smartphones will be available for up to half their original price in a tight period between 21-23h tonight. Currently, the Lumia 800 is priced at 479 euro, while the RAZR is set at 478 euro. Later this evening however, as part of their Cyber Monday Reloaded programme, Amazon will slash the prices of both handsets for up to 2 hours as long as the limited supplies last.
The exact amount of the discount is not announced.

Judge to reconsider DoJ's AT&T antitrust suit

Late last month AT&T withdrew its application with the FCC to acquire T-Mobile, in an attempt, it said, to focus on winning approval from the Department of Justice, first. Now a district court judge is considering dismissing the US' antitrust suit against ole Ma Bell. According to Bloomberg, the DoJ is looking to either “withdraw without prejudice” or “stay” the suit, as a result of AT&T pulling its application from the FCC. Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle scheduled a hearing for December 15th to decide whether the deal is still possible in the proposed timeframe and the suit still worth pursuing.
