Windows 8 'Family Safety' feature chaperones underage users through the World Wild Web

Windows 8 'Family Safety' feature chaperones underage users through the World Wild Web

It's not the tantalizing bit of Windows 8 bait you'd expect in the lead up to that revolutionary OS' official launch, but for a certain domestic segment, it'll do. As part and parcel of its Release Preview - slated for a June bow - Microsoft's making the busywork of keeping digital tabs on your household ankle biters an integrated and easily managed feature of the two-faced system, accessible via the "Family Safety" option.

Verizon's Galaxy S III may lose quad-core processor

. An unknown Samsung handset running on Verizon's network made an appearance on NenaMark's benchmarking app over the weekend. The smartphone features the model number SCH-I535, which has previously been rumored to be Verizon's variant of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S III. The benchmark confirms that a powerful Samsung device with a 720p HD display and Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich is heading to Verizon. The results also show that rather than Samsung's own quad-core Exynos processor, the SCH-I535 is equipped with Qualcomm's dual-core and LTE-friendly Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz.

. Samsung on Monday released a European television commercial for its upcoming flagship Galaxy S III smartphone. Rather than a mouth full of specs, the 60-second ad highlights the handset's connection to humans and nature. The Galaxy S III “understands you, shares what's in your heart, keeps track of loved ones, recognises who you are, follows your every move, sees your best side, connects with nature and waits till you're asleep,” the commercial states. The smartphone is scheduled to launch at the end of May overseas and some time in June in North America.

Samsung T699 for T-Mobile teased in UAProf, reveals 720p display

No doubt, T-Mobile is in the middle of a rebuilding stage as a result of the AT&T merger attempt. Should it be much of a surprise, then, that the carrier would be looking at cranking out a smartphone lineup full of tempting options. Not at all. It turns out that Samsung is making some contributions to the cause, as a UAProf file for the unannounced T699 has been discovered. Just like most user agent profiles, there's little to discern here aside from the obvious inclusion of a 720p HD display - but at least this lets us know that the handset exists, and that we have something new to look forward to on T-Mobile.

Certain videos, when the protagonists speak a foreign language, don't need subtitles: Mexican telenovelas, dolphins in love and auto racing are but three. Although the narration is in Spanish and there isn't any racing in this video of former WRC Champion Carlos Sainz and current DTM driver Miguel Molina lapping the Autódromo Terramar, the action needs no translation. Terramar, in Spain, is the second oldest racing track in Europe after England's Brooklands, built in 1922 to host Grand Prix cars.
