LaCie's new 100MB/s NAS is 2big, resists that second scone (video)

Gallic storage outfit LaCie is nonchalantly unveiling its 2big double-bay NAS that's purportedly capable of pumping data around your network at 100MB/s. Designed for small businesses, it'll remind any passers by of HAL or GLaDOS, depending on their age. Sporting a 2GHz processor and the company's NAS OS2, it'll also happily interact with Windows 7 Backup or Time Machine and you can access your files on the go with the company's iOS app. It's available from today, prices starting from $299 (£187 in the UK) with a three year warranty.

Roku software version 4.7 rolls out for Roku 2, Roku LT and new Roku HD

The folks over at Roku have not been sipping Pina Coladas while enjoying themselves on a yacht somewhere – no sir, in fact, they have been working hard to deliver yet another software update which will bump up the version number to version 4.7, where this new software update will play nice with the following devices from Roku – the Roku 2, Roku LT and the new Roku HD. Obviously, which self-respecting software upgrade will come without introducing any new improvements and fixes. So too, does version 4.7 deliver a slew of "under the hood" improvements and fixes which you can read about after the jump.

Nokia Intros Two Low-End Cell Phones

Nokia Intros Two Low-End Cell Phones

Nokia has launched two entry-level, web-connected cellphones in an aim to regain its dominance in emerging markets. The Nokia 110 and Nokia 112 come with Nokia Browser, which supposedly reduces data consumption by up to 90%, thus avoiding bill shock. They also have a bundle of 40 games from Electronic Arts that can be downloaded through the Nokia Store. Both phones offer direct access to social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, support for e-mail and instant messaging, dual-SIM capability, and an Easy Swap feature for a quick SIM switch without opening the phone.

The differences between the two phones are very subtle.

Is this 1972 Chevrolet Nova the world's greatest sleeper?

Is this 1972 Chevrolet Nova the world's greatest sleeper?

Those of you foolish enough to follow the Autoblog Podcast know I have a soft spot for sleepers. There's just something amazing about a beaten old car secreting flawless mechanicals down below. The guys at Big Muscle have managed to track down what may very well be the queen of all sleeperdom in Dru Diesner's 1972 Chevrolet Nova The machine wears its original faded green paint, plenty of dents and dings and a very dated interior, but there's something special under the aged skin. Built with a twin-supercharged LS2, the Bowtie dumps 1,160 horsepower on its ultra-wide rear tires.
That's my kind of magical.

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon

Notebooks today are getting even lighter and lighter. And with the entry of the ultrabooks, they become lighter as well as slimmer. While some may think that going this route will make them more fragile, there are many models that are also designed to be quite rugged for daily use. One of the recent introductions in the laptop market is the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is an upgrade from the previous ThinkPad X1model. But this time the X1 Carbon laptop comes with a carbon fiber body to get that advantage in strength and durability and yet stay light. The X1 Carbon only weighs less than 3 pounds.

Those suave Google glasses are now patent-protected

Google has successfully patented the "ornamental design" of its augmented reality eyewear. To you, me and Aunty Dee they might look almost like regular Ray-Bans, but there's a lot of secret technology concealed within those sleek lines and Google evidently wants to prevent others from copying their appearance.
