Thought that being bought over by Western Digital, their development will slow down. Well that doesn't seem to be the case. Hitachi today unveiled the Ultrastar SSD400M Solid State Drive, which makes use of Intel 25nm MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips and features a SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) 6.0 Gbps interface. No SandForce controller here thought. Designed for enterprise users, this storage device has a 2.5-inch form factor and a MTBF of 2 million hours. It provides sequential read/write speeds of 495x385 MB/s and delivers up to 56,000 read, as well as 24,000 sustained write IOPS.
