It’s been a long time coming but Acer has announced via their Deutschland Facebook page that the Iconia Smart will finally be launching this September in Germany. Although the 4.8-inch “phoneblet” sounds like it would be huge in comparison to current 4.3-inch devices but really, the screen only adds pixels along the top and bottom of the device, providing for a longer screen. Should be perfect for killing those annoying black bars when watching movies. The phone packs a 1024×480 resolution display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will retail for around €499 ($710).
