Samsung unveils the Galaxy S Advance smartphone; global roll-out begins next month

. Never afraid of a mouthful when it comes to device names, Samsung on Monday unveiled the Galaxy S Advance smartphone. The new phone is seemingly set to be positioned as a mid-range handset with specs that fall between the original Galaxy S and the updated Galaxy S II line. The Galaxy S Advance features a curved design with a 4-inch Super AMOLED display with 480 x 800-pixel resolution, a dual core 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera, HSPA 14.4 support, 768MB of RAM and up to 16GB of internal storage. The phone will launch with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Samsung has not made any plans for an Ice Cream Sandwich update public.
