Given the recent acquisition of the popular photo-sharing application Instagram by Facebook for $1 billion, there were many naysayers who condemned the application with some even looking for an alternative to the successful app. Now however, its API indicates that Instagram has passed the 50 million users mark with an adoption rate of 5 million new users for every week. Before the application was released for Android devices, it was an iOS-exclusive application for two years.
